Are there any dating sites that work out there?

I've tried loads and spent a fortune with no luck whatsoever.

It got to the point where I was contacting every girl that came up, whether I liked them or not, at least 10 to 15 a day.

Replies (from the miniscule amount that responded) varied from

I'm 5'9" and 11 stone, Absolutely nothing special about my looks.

Maybe I should just give up and save a fortune and live a life of solitude.

Sounds like someones trying too hard..

Just be yourself and hang out with friends you might meet a friend of a friend and go from there. What about trying new hobbies or just going to a pub/club?

The Gaurdian SoulMate site seemed to have a lot of eligible girls, I met my wife on Match though. My recommendation though is to pay and choose your site wisely. I couldn't be happier 3 years and a baby later.

I had someone on tinder that within 3 or 4 messages wanted to drive to my house, get laid, then go home. Being that forward, no doubt she would have ripped me a new one so declined.

I am not powerfully built, particularly good looking etc either.

I've had some good dates and nookie through match.

Thinking about it, I'm not sure it's for everyone. If you don't take a good photo, and you're not good at written conversation/ humour, then it would be silly to play that game. Instead go do some interest/ activity/ club and meet people that way.

If, however, those are your strengths then it can be a heck of an experience. Which you may need if you've just come out of a long term monogamous relationship. After years of watching telly on a Friday night with a Chinese it can be really bolstering to meet someone who wants you to down shots of tequila and then wear her like a hat.

OP, 11 stone is 70kg according to google, isnt that quite skinny for someone of 5 9? Im six foot and weigh in at nearly 90 kg, only thing can be said about that is that i have a bit of a gut (small one mind you, junior still gets pretty wet under the shower)
