Does anybody here own any Gucci polo shirts?
All my current polo shirts are Ralph Lauren and I would maybe like to buy a few really nice pieces. Been looking at some mens fashion sites and Gucci seems to come up a good bit. I've looked and see that they are over £300 for some. I don't mind the price since it would be a special treat for myself. Plus with our ten year wedding anniversary coming up, she is looking for something nice to buy me. It seems the Gucci uses same type of cotton as RL. Is it any better quality or just as many would expect, hyper inflated price due to exclusive nature?

I am not a fan of branded goods - why pay to advertise them.

That being said, my experience is that all of these are the same quality in reality - probably all made in the same factory.

I prefer Uniqlo (£15 and unbranded) as they are cut longer, which fit's my powerfully built frame better.

Or why not design your own logo and commission some unique to you?

Some people forget that one mans £300 is another mans £3.

Therefore you are not thick for spending any amount of money as long as it is affordable to the buyer.

For polos stick to Ralph Lauren, Lacoste etc. If you're spending that amount you want to be tailored into a properly nice quality designer shirt IMO.

Was bought one for a present about 5 years ago- it wasn't any better quality that RL, Gant, etc.

If you really want the best polo shirts, forget Gucci and go to Loro Piana.

£545 for a polo shirt - crikey.

Mind you, beautifully cut and no logo, so for people who love clothes and not brands, which is a good thing.

Those are nice but I would not pay over £500 for a polo. The Gucci polo's have no logo either. Beyond my RL Polo's that have the little pony, vast amount of my clothing has no logos. I have a nice Hugo Boss jacket that only has label on inside. Just how I like it.

I was going to suggest Sunspel; I'm nearly sure they made the polos for Daniel Craig's Bond. They're also not £300.

They're not the most expensive but I like the Fred Perry polos.

I'm not sure about the quality of Gucci stuff. I bought a leather biker jacket from them a few years ago and very quickly the stitching started coming apart in a number of places. A few more wears and I reckon the arms will fall off.

I have a number of Boss polo shirts - £50 to £70 quid, fit well, beautifully made, last a very long time. Wash well too. I recommend:

Use your air miles or get a cheap return flight to anywhere in the US (for instance Boston then drive a hire car to Vermont). Go to a factory outlet mall. Fill your suitcase with $10 branded (Hilfiger, Lauren, whatever) polos. They're all made in Asia or Honduras. Have change from £500
