I thought as an antidote to the thread whether people gleefully report pushing their other half's over in the mud or pulling their pigtails or punching them playfully in the face or other 'fun' activities that must be so endearing, I thought it might be interesting to discover whether anyone made a point of doing anything caring or thoughtful to show their affection? Crazy notion I know...

Anyone..?

Last night I spent 4 and a half hours after I got home from work pulling up carpets, removing those bloody carpet grippers and old skirting board and today brought all of that to the tip. I then met my OH on my lunch and spent half a months wages on floorboards and underlay which I will now have to put down.

My knees are raw and I ache in many places, its either love or madness that drove me to do it because I think if I was living alone I'd have just put up with the carpet smile

I try and get a bit of housework or tidying up done if she's out, since she does most of the washing. I take her a cup of tea in bed in the mornings and sometimes breakfast in bed. Flowers every now and again, that sort of thing.

Also keep an eye out for dinner + theatre deals on Lastminute.com as occasionally they're quite good and you don't half score a few brownie points smile

I clear off for a few days at a time to give her peace and quiet.
That also has the bonus of me going on a motorbike trip with the lads.

If only everyman was as thoughtful the world would be a better place I think tbh.

I gave up doing surprise presents and stuff - she just doesn't like not knowing.

Flowers on occasion, cards for every occasion, decent birthday/Xmas presents.

I cook a lot when I'm home and generally try to be a decent person to live with - i.e, not a slob.

Try not to be a colossal tt. That's often a struggle.

All the washing and ironing. All the cleaning and car jobs. All the gardening etc. Anything to do with anything electrical or computer related. Take the kids out when she needs to work / relax. Flowers most weekends. Good gifts. Good holidays.

And none of the things from the other thread.

Given it's a mystery to her and most women I've ever met I check her oil level every so often and top it up as appropriate. This keeps her car running.

One of her friends deystroyed her car not bothering to check the oil, she assumed because it had been MOT'd recently it must be fine for oil.

Leave the country 5 nights a week biggrin

Usually take her a cuppa in bed on a Sunday morning if she's having a lie in, or a take her a cuppa in the bath on a weekend afternoon if she's having a post race lie in.

Put the loo seat down.

Bought a Roomba to try and make up for the housework that I don't do.

Don't buy flowers often which means on the rare occasions I do it's usually both appreciated and results in the question "Why? What have you done?"

Buy her interesting looking beers when I see them.
