Do you feel like a grown up?

Did something just click, did it creep up on you?

If you do feel like a grown up, do you mind?

I feel like I should feel like a grown up, but in reality I feel about 22.

One day I didn't. The next day we'd had our first Baby. No choice but to be a grown up once you're a parent. Hey ho.

49 today and no I don't feel like a grown up. It's all a charade this life thing. Being an adult is about knowing when to be one and when not!!

No. I'm 43, no kids though which I guess might cause some to grow up a bit.

I'm grown up in the sense that I have a child, pay a mortgage and go to work.

I'm not grown up in that I have a man room full of geeky toys and would say that my taste in things to play with has just got more expensive over the years.

I've got a mortgage, a child, a wife, a job, and I'm 37 - I guess I'm a grown up.

I still have an overwhelming desire to stay in bed until 3pm then go and get drunk and eat a kebab. Which means I'm still a teenager on the inside. It's an urge I have to fight every day.

I work hard and am taking on more responsibilities, we bought an older house and are in the process of doing it up, life has kicked the st out of me in the last 9 months and I have handled it (brother committed suicide (27), brother in law died(26), was involved in a serious car accident, sale of previous house got to 95% completion and then fell through), I manage my finances pretty well and am starting to look after myself better.

I'm quite proud of these achievements and though there are obviously things I wish had never happened they have proven to me that I can handle things when they go very badly wrong. I think if I was still an immature young man (I'm 35) I wouldn't have coped as well as I have so I don't mind the fact that I'm a grown up.

Don't get me wrong I can still be an eejit, I have a toy in the garage (MX-5), I watch F1 and silly comedies, I sometimes get drunk as a monkey with friends. But I can also handle the grown up stuff too.

I wasn't grown up until at the age of 58 I had to tell my dad that his wife ,my mum,had passed away in the time between us leaving the hospital and getting home .
Organising her funeral and two years later doing the same for him are the two most grown up things that I have done .

No, just older.

But I think Alex above has hit the nail squarely on the head.

I'm approaching middle age and have a kid. I do grown up stuff like go to work, pay bills, look after our daughter but it's all a big charade really and as soon as the opportunity presents itself, I'll revert to my true form which is probably somewhere around the age of 15.

Play video games, chat absolute pointless rubbish with mates, perv at women, watch superhero movies with the same enthusiasm as I did when I was a teenager and what's worse, dissect\discuss their merits with friends for hours. I even still buy toys, they are just a lot more expensive. My missus often says I don't act my age but I've met people who do and some who are even old before their time and you know what, it looks boring as fk so no thanks.

I was 41 a few weeks ago, I have kids that are nearly old enough to go to Uni, a mortgage that will be paid off not long after they go, responsible job so I should feel like a proper grown up but I'm still the biggest kid going. Plenty of time to be a boring old git when I'm dead, I'm too busy having fun, even more so when the kids move out.

I was probably more grown up in my late 20s than i am now in my mid 30s.

Always said, if you haven't grown up by the time you're 40 you don't have to biggrin

I'm 41, have a 14yo daughter and a 12yo stepson. I work, help pay the bills and act the responsible parent when required. I then sing silly songs where I change the words to make myself laugh, show the kids up as much as possible etc.

I took up running at 39 and started playing rugby again at 38. The day after my body tells me that I am a 41 year old idiot. My brain refuses to accept this reality

It was my stag do at the weekend. I spent the day at a beer festival with my face painted, drunk about 15 jaegerbombs on top of the beer, fell over at some point and don't remember getting home. The day after my body told me that I am a 41 year old idiot. My brain refuses to accept this reality wink

Depends on your definition of "grown up"

I'm 29, I 100% feel like an Adult, but I don’t feel old

Around my work colleagues (about 50-60 years old) I feel like a drunken teenager, especially on the "what did you do at the weekend chat"

Plonk me in a nightclub and I immediately feel like a granddad

I’m financially old, mortgage, wife etc, but im socially young, partying and boozy weekends away. No kids yet though, that will probably put an end to that
