Under orders from Mrs S this afternoon, I was advised to find out if we could purchase a hot tub. One of those Lazy Spas that a couple of friends I know own and enjoy using for the 2 or 3 days a year when the sun is out. I am sure that probably now means I should immediately check myself into the Council thread but never mind.

Some online hunting for bargains and I find a website offering them at a reasonable price with the more expensive model given a discount to the same price as the cheaper model. Brilliant. They even have a branch local to my office, so I thought I'd call to check stock availability.

"Hi can I help?"

"Yes, I've just seen online you've got an offer on the Lazy Spa Hot Tubs, is that something you do in store?"

"Sorry I can't hear you I'll just move away from the shop floor"

"(i repeat above)"

"I'm sorry, Ladies Hot Plugs?"

"No, the Lazy Spa Hot Tub"

"Ladies Stop Plugs? I'm sorry I don't deal with ladies items"

"No, no, you misunderstand. a Hot Tub" (I'm ennunciating as clearly as I can now)

"Hot Jugs?"

"No, Lazy. spa. Hot. Tubs"

"I'll get my supervisor"

"hello can I help"

"Yes, do you sell the Hot Tubs in store"

"Top Jugs?"

"No, HOT TUBS"

"Parcel Tape?"

"No. A hot tub, like a jacuzzi"

"Can you spell that for me"

"H O T T U B"

"No they're online only"

How f****g bad is your phone system/employee comprehension if they cannot understand single syllable words?

Any others?

(ok yes, someone show me to the council thread)

You should have said 'Sex Pond' - it enunciates better and everyone knows what you mean.

I dread to think how that would have been interpreted had I suggested in.... I'd probably have a lovely new X Box to play with at least but I think the sex pond is much more what Mrs S and I are looking forward to...

I spoke to a letting agent. He asked where I currently lived.

"No fixed abode".

"Mo Fix Road"

Yes that's exactly what I said ....

This reminds me of a recent phone call at work;

Me; Hello, purchasing...

Caller; Percy?

Me; No, purchasing...

Caller; Aaah Mr Singh!! How are you today..

I went along with him calling me Mr Singh for the rest of the conversation.

I had a call from a chap this morning who couldn't spell his own address, when I asked him how to spell part of it he had to put the phone down and go and find out from somewhere.
I was then booking his goods in for delivery when I realised he hadn't given me his street so had to ring him back for that too....

Caller: "Where are you?"

Friend: "I'm on my driveway"

Caller: "You're in Zimbabwe?!"

This one at my gf's old place of work made me laugh.

Caller [in stereotypical Asian accent]: "Hello, I'm calling from Singapore, can I speak to Dave please?"

Person answering phone in UK: "OK, who is it speaking?"

Caller: "I'm calling from Singapore..."

PAPUK: "Yes, that's fine but who is it speaking?"

Caller: "No, no I'm Colin from Singapore!"

PAPUK: "Ooops, OK, I will put you through Colin".

On the phone to my son's nursery to pay the deposit, they asked for my email address, so I told them,
"it's [firstname]_[secondname]@hotmail.com"
She asked to check it and spelled it back to me

Give me strength.

Many years ago I went out with a girl who worked in a shop called "nothing" on Portobello road.
Oh the fun I had

"Hello, nothing"
"What?"
"Nothing"
"Oh, sorry, I thought you said something"
"I did, nothing"
"You said nothing?"
"Yes"
"Oh, could've sworn you said something"

Phoned our off shore Tech support, explained to 3 different people the issue I was having and was transferred all over the place.
Eventually got put through to some Indian bloke whose opening line was "Did you call me or did I call you?"
Confidence inspiring...
