We're going mountain biking in the Alps this summer. The perceived wisdom is to take a spare of just about everything on your bike that might possibly break with you, as your wallet will get raped for the few spares that resort bike shops carry.

Thing is, I don't really want to shell out on loads of spares for all the family bikes just before leaving, especially as we'll probably not need 99% of them, and they'll just take up precious space in the car, so I was wondering whether, if needs be, I could use my UK Amazon Prime account on amazon.fr to order stuff if I need it on free next day delivery to our chalet.

Anyone tried this?

My dad dropped a waiters tip jar in Sarlat (France) the waiter picked a new one on my Amazon prime and we had it delivered to the restaurant so I can't see why you won't get gear delivered to the chalet.

Was it delivered next day? No use if it's a couple of days later! biggrin

My password works on both my Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.fr accounts if that helps. If I change it on one then it's automatically changed on the other.

Why not make a purchase to see if it goes through on the Fr site and then cancel the order?

No. When I wanted something from Amazon.de, it didn't recognise me as a prime member. I mailed them to ask why - I was told your prime membership is domestic only. I had to join Amazon.de prime.

I think you can order from other Amazon sites - just not as prime.

Sorry that won't work. Prime accounts are country specific. But have you considered the free month's trial on Amazon.fr?
