Whilst walking the dog, you see a glint and think its a toffee wrapper but you kick it with your foot, just to make sure, it doesnt move, you kneel down and expose a bit more, and a bit more and it is indeed a 400 Troy ounce bar of gold bullion, obviously been there a good while the way the earth was around it.

Proper full size one, so 12.5 Kilos, about what, 420 grands worth ?

What do you do next ?

Like the bag of money I know, but an added twist, do you grab it ? what do you do then ? how would you sell it ?

I know a few scousers who could very quickly turn that into cash no questions asked.
I'd then buy a nice car.. And a house.. And a few more cars. biggrin

For £400k I'd expect to get a raging erection, at the very least. biggrin:

Do I grab it? Hell yes, or else the person behind me might get it.

What do I do next? No idea. Might well hand it in to plod as I would imagine it would be somewhat difficult to prove ownership, so in six months it should be mine?!? All legal like...

Either way, a semi is of little value to anyone.

I'd enrol for a jewellery making course and send I'd made here...

http://www.assayoffice.co.uk/our-services/hallmark...

Once the gold was 'legit' I'd be able to sell it for 'scrap'

Of course this would then cause all sorts of problems trying to account for where I'd aquired the gold and my sudden extra income...

Doing a deal with a self employed jeweller/goldsmith to make a st load of jewellery and sell it on splitting the profit would probably be the only way to get rid of it and do well?

Keep it hidden, that's early retirement sorted in a few years. Safe deposit box, ready to be cashed in one day.

Always wanted to walk into a cash converter with big ingot and ask how much just to see the look on their faces.

Would there be no questions asked about how you obtained it?

I don't think you could just cash it in anywhere, but at least you'd have time to find someone trustworthy to get rid of it. If gold prices continue to rise over the next 10/15 years and you got 70p per £1 to get rid it'd be worth it.

I'd pick it up, take it home and some time later, 'find' it while digging my own garden and report this. I think, having 'found' it on my own land, if it hadn't been previously stolen, I could dispose of it legitimately.
