Is it wrong to call a child's dragon cuddly 'Puff'?'

So- SWMBO's aunt has made the most awesome cuddly dragon for our 6 month old little boy.

Here's the little fella here.. (dragon - not our boy!)



Looking at it, the first name that came into both our heads for him was 'Puff'.

However, given the connotations of Puff and Magic Dragons etc, is it wrong to call him Puff?
Clearly our little one will have no idea of these for a long time, however

Part of me thinks we should any way

Answers on a postcard...(or alternative name suggestions)

I grew up singing along to that song on an LP. I only VERY recently learned what it is linked to.

It's not diminished my childhood memories in the slightest.

Call it what you like, the kid won't know.

I think some relate Puff the magic dragon with chasing the dragon....opium dens etc.....sort of different.

Puff is fine.

I would be more concerned about the kid getting nightmares, I would definitely introduce Puff slowly

Also - your username?! Why are you worrying about a child calling their dragon "puff"... Calling a toy "golly" might be a reason to step in but seriously, chill out.

Tell your Mrs you're giving it the same name as her aunts. If she asks why say you felt it appropriate it is named after a real dragon.

-true - but username came from when I was heavily into kitesurfing and trying to get air.....(that said - you have a fair point - and I had totally forgotten/missed the irony of my posting this!)

Fair point- although he has already acquired a couple of other dragons..

I wouldn't mind but she's 26.
