No, this is not a 'help me to dress myself' thread, the like of which caused me to start that interminable teaspoons thread
I have a pair of shoes that I love. They are not my most comfortable, my most stylish, my most versatile but when they are the right thing to wear, they are the right thing to wear.
The trouble is, they are about due to expire, and I can't find a replacement. The makers don't do them any more,,and I can't find anythign else out there. I like the external stitched toe, but I also like the longer top, so boat shoes aren't the answer. I like the side lace, I like to colour and I like the soft matt leather upper. The sole is a driving shoe style, and that's nice too.
Can anyone find me something to replace them? Apologies for the photo below, my wife says it smells a bit...

That's pretty much a square-toed loafer isn't it? You might not be able to get one with the same sole unit but I'd have assumed you'd be drowning in options for that general shape. There are going to be folks in this thread who know substantially more; might be worth establishing how much you'd like to spend because they're going to know of brands I've never heard of.
Have a look here, I have used these people for many years, service and stock are excellent. www.pediwear.co.uk

I haven't found a square toed loafer that fits my requirements.Budget (this is PH, after all) is anything from £50 to £250

That is a classic driving shoe - the clue is in the rounded heel which is for better control. They're what Senna was wearing in that NSX video. Google "driving shoe" and you'll find plenty.
Thank you. I know what a driving shoe is - i have some. As I said, the driving shoe sole is nice. That doesn't mean it's essential. That's certainly not what I bought these shoes to do.Freds said:

No idea which thread you mean...

And herein lies proof, dear PH readers, that there is nothing to be gained by asking other PHers for advice on clothing, teaspoons, cars, women or ways to fill your spare time.
Your realistic choices are:
1. Ask somebody who knows
2. Ask somebody who cares

The shoes you posted are moccasins (not loafers) and as others have said are widely accepted as driving shoes. I'm not sure why this has ever been the case because the "pieced sole" is hardly ideal for driving and frankly the fact the sole extends around the back of the heel is form over function.Your realistic choices are:

Tod's are accepted as being the de facto choice - whether this is because they are Italian I don't know but I prefer both Berluti and John Lobb's models. I ordered a pair of John Lobb's in a sale http://www.bespoke-england.co.uk/products/campus-i... (those ones are only available in 5 and 5.5 but there are other leathers on the same site) but, unfortunately they couldn't locate them in my size so had to refund me.
