I've decided to ask the big question.

Heading to London in a couple of weeks. Booked La Gavroche restaurant and wondering where to ask her. I was thinking Berkeley Square on the way to La Gavroche but if its raining it won't be great!

HELP! Any ideas welcome......

At the top of the London Eye? Get the restaurant to put the ring in a glass of champers?

Given a time and place, I'm sure a few will volunteer to hold umbrellas for you.

Well.....we were going to go ring shopping the next day. I'd rather her get what she wants - its not really the right thing to do though is it?

If you are going to be in London shopping on a weekday put a post in the "Watches" section here as a few of the regular suppliers of wrist porn to us PH'ers also offer jewellery at exceptional prices. I can recommend Dom Hackett at Hackett Watches for jewellery and watch supply thumbup

www.hackettwatches.com

Not clear on his website but he can supply very nice rings at prices much cheaper than a high street jeweller.

That could be painful if she says "No"

So popping the question is hardly gonna be a surprise to her is it?

Ask in the restaurant. Phone ahead so that they are aware to support you in either outcome. Most restaurants are very switched on.

I would say that most people only ask when they know the answer. Or more likely have been hassled by the OH as to WHEN they will get married............. But your point is valid!

Would she like it to be in public or in private

I asked in the Lake District as my Mrs hates being the centre of attention

In private for sure.

I was thinking in Berkeley Square as she likes the song! Dinner at Gavroche, drink after in the Ritz. Job done!

But, before or after popping the question?
