Can you play by the field at 30 and have casual sex or has the ship sailed?

One of my biggest regrets to date is not fooling around with more girls when I was younger, when I say more I mean I’m still with my second girlfriend.

She’s very attractive, funny, kind, and we have a healthy relationship. She’s definitely not perfect and I doubt I’ll get better but I am thinking of leaving her so I can get out there.

I don’t feel old but I’m conscious the market place is dwindling at 30.

Very attractive, funny, kind and a good relationship amd you want to chuck it in to drunkenly fool around with drunken 'single for a reason or twenty' chubbies.

I'll swap my singleness and Tinder matches for your bird if you want?

Seeing as she's very attractive, you have a healthy relationship and you won't get better maybe you can pencil it in for the two of you to get back together in a few years. I'm sure she'll be cool with that after you've banged a load of sluts to get your kick. She sounds quite reasonable.

Sounds like she deserves better and you have already moved on mentally.

End it now for her sake.

Of course you can but very generally speaking there will be more baggage.

It's harder too as again generally your friends will not be going out in that way so you might want to go clubbing while they have long since gone home. Or more dinner parties or kids etc so fewer and fewer of you and before you know it your going out with s group of people who are much younger than you and your tagging along.

Why not have your cake and eat it - she might be open to swinging parties?? Then again such a suggestion might be terminal.

Two separate issues there in my opinion.

If the relationship isn't working out as you would like then it's correct to pull the plug.

Will casual sex with numerous people be preferable to a relationship with someone else? Well only you know the answer to that.

I did it in my late 30's and found there were loads of willing lonely participants out there, even got chased by a 19 year old. tongue out I never did the sleeping around when younger though.

Are you short, fat, bald and ugly? If so your options may be limited. Mind you, those attributes don't seem to hold back the stories from many PHers.

Lol. Yes, you can. You can still be seen as attractive to 21 year old girls who are single and to slightly older ladies in their mid to late 30s who are perhaps recently divorced etc.

Whether you want to or not is another question but 30 is probably the 'prime' age for that sort of thing.

My friend still hasnt come home from our night out last night and he is in his thirties, last spotted leaving with a 27 year old doctor who had just come out of a long term relatinship!

Im not necessarily condoning anything but the answer to your question is yes, of course you can. You could still be doing it in your 70s if thats your thing.

Sex doesnt stop at 21 !!

Having said that, if you have to ask if you can still 'play the field at 30' then youre probably not the type to do it. The guys doing it have been playing the field since they were 17/18 and havent stopped since!!!

What a load of absolute nonsense. Totally at odds with my experience and that of various other single mates I have in their late 30's, let alone early 30's.

No one wants to become the Fonz, but not all 30 somethings are having dinner parties and drinking a Horlicks by 10pm. Lifestyle choice is not dictated solely by age.

Play the field
At thirty most guys playing the field have a bit of confidence to pull
You sound like you're off down the bookshop for tea.
You're going to have to man up a bit to pull that's for sure.

But ladies have a biological clock which means they either do or don't have kids even if they can at all. As such those friends who have married or not yet who have kids will frankly not be coming out anymore or if they do it will be infrequent & my personal experience both pre and post being a dad is that those dads when they do get let out they go and monster the booze hard early on so even if they have a "hall pass" they are fked and pass out - yes I have and do this myself.

A friend of mine divorced in his early 30's he is nearly 40now. Of his friends they are all married or moved far away so a real issue he first had was who to actually go out with to try to "score" eventually he joined a works 5 a side or such clubs but it simply wasn't the same (maybe being older and not used to looking for a knee trembler is what he is prepared to do). None the less now into his 40's in all that time he has had a 3 week relationship. He has tried dating sites but everyone he meets has "baggage" - to which I point out to him he himself does too so unless he goes for a 18-22 yo which he apparently has no interest in then he will have to suck it up or pay for an escort.

What a load of old toot man. 30 is no age nowadays to be playing the field, I didn't settle down until I was mid 30's and neither did lots of our mates.

Even the late 20s early 30s people I know who are settled down and married/with kids still go out clubbing, go to ibiza or whatever.

You're out of touch welshbeef lad wink

I don't go lookin kids come first and my knowledge of it is via single mates. That said I struggle to comprehend why some people cannot "meet" others. Either they have expectations way beyond what they could achieve or well maybe they are going out where they are only old middle aged divorcees or whatever. I'm sure if anyone really wanted to go out and meet someone it would be pretty easy - I'm from an era pre Internet dating so old school so to speak.

I would always say the grass always looks greener.

Seldom is.

I guess maybe part of the post is because she might be reaching an age where she would like to start a family and your now feeling the weight of the world just landed on you.

If it's this then I think I can say for most of the Dad population here when number 1 child happens its huge you realise everything has changed forever in every way.
But don't worry about that as one book closes another opens and speaking as someone who never wanted children who has 2 now with number 3 on the way don't worry at all. They make life worth living in every way possible. Take this week manic work stress high etc then come home open the door youngest happens to be in the hallway suddenly a huge smile and trundles over to give a big hug and kiss then the oldest runs through jumps for a big hug huge smile telling you how much they missed you and love you. That stress instantly vanishes

I understand. I know many friends who always wanted kids - I didn't, how completely wrong was I. fk only a month ago I had to go up on he stage on holiday in the dads chicken dance disco final - why would I do that? Because my oldest wanted me to. Did I look like a prick awkward and all sorts for sure - but there was no way I wouldn't.

From what you say she sounds nice and the sole reason your thinking is you want to play the field... On that front sure some one night stands can be epic some an utter farce most alright. If the sex currently isn't great talk about it watch porn together try out at random different Karma sutra positions heck try tantric if that works for you.

Whatever you do make sure it's no regrets as once it's gone it's gone.

I don't know about your relationship with your girlfriend, but I've had far more success from 30-34 than I did from 20-30, in both quality and quantity!

I think it's down to having way, way more confidence now, and also being able to notice when a girl is interested. I was often blind to this in my twenties.
