Right I bought a rifle rest which is basically bean bag which arrives in the post empty and you fill it up, put your rifle on it and shoot stuff. Paper targets in my case.

I filled mine up with uncooked rice, but now I think the bag is too heavy so I want to replace it with styrofoam balls or (unused) cat litter or something.

I think there is a good 7 or 8 lbs of rice in there.

After I tip the rice out, do you think I can still eat it?

Put it in another bag and use it as a back stop, then eat it.

You *can* eat virtually anything.

Should you? Well, that depends.

Leaving aside the question of eating the rice for the moment...
Cat litter is highly absorbent. You may not want to use something that is constantly taking in moisture (even from the air).
The little Styrofoam balls are quite readily available, and cheap as I recall.

Dry rice will absorb quite a lot of moisture as well. So if you've been outside on the ground with this thing, eating the rice may not be such a good idea smile

And The NHS had this to say.

I often make double the amount of pilau rice required, and store the remainder in the fridge for up to 3 days before using it. I microwave the Hell out of it before serving of course. It's never been a problem for me, but I wouldn't risk it with young children.

The B cereus poisoning is only a problem with cooked rice that's then reheated.

Microwaving the hell out of precooked rice will not destroy all the toxins, so watch it.

Top tip, Shaker. I'll have to remember to take the bag out of the kitchen before I start shooting too!

I had no idea that there could be a problem with reheating rice. I do it all the time after leaving it for up to a week in the fridge.

I'm probably not going to in future....

Probably easiest to mix in some silica gel granules with the rice to absorb the moisture that the rice has absorbed.

Anyone care to make a guess as to what Wednesday's question about rice, is likely to be?

Would it be ok to use 8lbs of uncooked rice for an enema?

A week! Jesus. For your own sake, stop. I go no more than 24 huors.
Look up "Bacillus cereus food poisoning rice" for reasons why. There are a number of toxins generated, some heat stable, some not. The fact that you kill the bacteria is neither here nor there. IIRC there is at least one heat stable emetic toxin 9causes vomiting) and at least one heat stable diarrhoeic toxin (have a guess). Bad news and it can put you in bed for a couple of days. It's very common in Chinese restos and takeaways where people cook up huge vats of rice and then fail to cool it properly before warming it up and serving it.

What about rice that's soaked through with madras, has some chips in it, half eaten, left to go cold, frozen next day, left for a week then microwaved.
That's ok isn't it?

What if I shoot it first?

Sounds fine, as some sort of Special Forces initiation ceremony. Must be washed down by 10 pints the night before and a 10 mile run starting at 6am the next day. You'll be fine.

Is the run absolutely necessary?

Try dried beans instead of rice.
My girlfriend made me some juggling balls out of dried beans ,it works really well.
