We have new neighbours. Single mum with teenage daughter I'm guessing 17ish

They communicate by screaming not shouting, screaming actually more like a screech.

I can't fathom how they can do this I couldn't screach that loud.

She has lots of boys around they stand around shouting, she goes in and her and her mum screech " don't you fking do that" " I'll fking do that " type " conversations

Yesterday I'm guessing estranged father dropped her off, she opened the door of the car, just a tirade of high pitch mega profanity came out if her gob. This went on for a couple of minutes he floored the car she went in and imeduately started a screaching at her mum who reciprocated in kind.

I'm sat here now and it's just gone quiet after a 5 minute " you fkng " 130db tirade

What is wrong with these people I though emerdale and eastendears were fiction it appears they are documentaries

But seriously why haven't they had throat operations by now. Time I retired to the countryside

Standard!

You have a nice list of cars in your garage - I'm guessing you don't live in an area infested with scrubbers?

I reckon Eastenders does have a lot to answer for, everyone shouts and growls at each other, very rarely a pleasant normal conversation, completely unrealistic as nobody swears.

Horrible programme, devoid of hunour, and anyone "nice" is generally portrayed as weak or stupid.

I get stressed out when it's even on in the background. It's constant drama and anger and heartache and screaming.
I can't understand how people find it enjoyable to watch. confused

Sadly I also have a neighbour who can only communicate with her 6 year old daughter by shouting/screaming. It's bloody annoying as me and other neighbours have learnt you don't dare comment on her parenting skills as you just end up getting an ear ache.

And the aforementioned "Emerdale", where from the couple of (I am ashamed to admit it) viewings I have had, is shocking. Virtually all of them have committed a criminal act, are planning to commit a criminal act, or are covering one up, or blackmailing someone for their criminality. None of them appear to be raising their own children (if what they do can be called 'raising'). The only positive seems to be that most of the men haven't yet had sex with their own mothers.

My life growing up, and into adulthood was nothing like those portrayed, and my children's lives have been nothing like that either. But I do think many people take their cue from television and films.
If it's all someone watches, it may well influence their perception of "normal" behaviour.

Of course, that sort of programme has been around for many years, but they seemingly make them worse and worse to hold people's interest and increase the ratings.

People that behave that way in real life are poison to everyone around them.

The louder the voice the lower the intelligence.

Well that is my theory anyway and I am sticking to it.

Jacko, please.

I spend a good portion of my time on PH going "Yeah, JACKO makes a good point there." You're one of the go to guys here as far as I'm concerned.

On this one though you are talking unmitigated horse excrement.

Take any inner city area -even before we would call them cities - over the past 2000 years and you will find loud mouth idiots with absolutely no concern for anybody else screaming and shouting at each other like morons. The world is positively pulsating with ignorant, selfish, entitled dheads like this, always has been. It really isn't anything to do with Eastenders, I mean, it really isn't.

I may be being a little harsh on you because every event these days seems to be automatically linked to some pointless television program or social media meme. It's how stuff is done now.
Have you noticed how every story in the newspapers is illustrated by a still from whichever film most relates to it? It seems to be the only way we can understand the world now, by referring to something we've all watched on television. Very depressing but probably inevitable.

I was born in the East End, it was full of mouthbreathing cretins (me included probably) long before they based a soap opera on it.

He's also a terrible driver from the stuff I saw on "celebrity driving school" or whatever it was called few years ago.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. The girlfriend watches and I think it's become thoroughly unpleasant TV, I gave up on it about ten years ago, having watched it from the first episode in the 80's.

That sounds like child abuse, not some stroppy teenager. Probably wise to report your concern s to proper authorities.

I have a neighbour that's not dissimilar. Most of the people on my road are older people but my next-door neighbours are in their 40s and have fairly young kids.

The dad has one of those real booming smokers type voices but he only seems to communicate at 100db or more. Not the worst neighbours to have and they're actually quite nice overall but compared to everyone else, bloody loud!

I can't believe people live in houses so close together that they can actually hear their neighbours. What has PH become? I had this in the old house, as the neighbours son Tarquin was learning to play the drums, but I bought some peacocks for the west lawn and their noise drowned out the racket.
