So, quick summary, split up with my last girlfriend at the back end of last year, was briefly seeing another girl a few months later for a week or two, but mainly I have been going on holidays, doing the house up, blowing too much money on cars, progressing at work and socialising with friends with no immediate 'want' for a woman or a relationship.

That was until a few days ago, my friends girlfriend wants me to go on a double date with them and her friend who I have not met before, she has shown me photos and given me a brief run down about her(as she has done about me to her I believe) and on paper this girl sounds like the perfect girl, looks wise, she is incredible (judging by the photo's) and seems to have the perfect slightly snobbish PH Member attitude biggrin.

Now, I have never had a set-up on a double-date before and almost find it kind of awkward with my friends looming over me, I feel like it's doomed for failure before it even happens and I don't want to blow my chance with this one before I even start, so does anyone here have any experience of being set-up on a double date and if so, any tips or advice?

What I suggest is that you tell us where and when and I'm sure a member will be happy to come along with a hidden web cam to set up a live feed so we can watch.
Any advice can be passed onto you via a hidden ear piece.
Good luck smile

No experience of a double date personally but lots of dating experience in general. If I were you I would just treat it as a normal night out and be yourself. I wouldn't look at it as a 'date' but just as a chance to meet a new potential date. If the evening goes well and you hit it off you could then ask for a more formal date, just being the two of you.

Can i just say, relax, this girl might seem perfect, but youve only had the sales pitch. Dont stress out about it, and given what you said about not having an immediate want/need for a girl, you're not exactly desperate.

So dont go into it with the goal of catching this one, just go and see what she is like and if there is any connection.

yes

This was going to be my advice

Treat it as if you were meeting your 2 mates for a drink and they happened to bring another friend along, nice relaxing evening, if something comes of it then great, if not, nevermind. She might be a horror show and she is probably just as nervous as you are.

I had this happen to me, almost word for word and I bottled it.

I basically tried to play it cool, wound my "cheeky banter" right in because I really fancied her & didn't make a move in fear of her thinking I was after one thing etc.

Friends later told me "You should have stuck your tongue down her throat" and got it over with when you were alone. The fact that I didn't made me come across a uninterested apparently. Also, by concentrating on not coming across as arrogant and/or over confident I came across as boring frown

Therefore my advice would be to try not to think about it too much beforehand and then relax and have fun during. What will be will be, don't stress or be overawed by the situation or her.

Thanks guy's, that actually comes across as sound advice, I have a generally quite likeable attitude and I 'think' I'm quite a humorous person, others seem to think I'm funny anyway biggrin. So I will just treat it like any other encounter.

My friend also states that she is pretty amazing and I don't think he would big someone up for me, although he is the type to be impressed by money and apparently she is rather wealthy to say the least, that doesn't bother me, couldn't care less about the size of someones bank account, does remove the worry that she might be a gold digger though, god knows the last one was!!

If she's so wonderful why is she single and needing the help of her mates to set her up on a date?
There's a skeleton hidden somewhere.

This.

I'm going with high-maintenance. When I did date, I had two golden rules:
1. Misrepresentation would result in instant dismal i.e. "Thanks, but no thanks", and walk off
2. 15 minute rule i.e. "Thanks, but no thanks" after 15 minutes

The 15 minute rule is only employed if there is absolutely zero chemistry, zero connection, and it is clear that you will both be wasting your time.

I screened out those who threw up red flags way before an actual date, so never had to employ either the misrepresentation rule of 15 minute rule.

I did walk out on a Vietnamese / Chinese woman after 45 minutes because the date died a death way before this point. I suspect this was my fault that it got this far after I cut off ties a couple of months previous in summer the day before her mother's birthday, then got in touch with her again a couple of months later, leading to the 45 minute walk-out. She probably had a lucky escape in truth!

Mate of mine set me up on a couple of blind double dates.

First one, me and him walked into the pub,I saw my potential match sat next to his missus and I left very soon after (gave her a chance but, possibly superficially, could get over her eyes facing different ways). Second one, looked alright, seemed nice enough so had a night out with the four of us. 15 years later and we've just had our 6th wedding anniversary and have a three year old lad.

Do it, you never know! What do you have to lose?
