F*fin loud people on their mobiles on the train
Discussion
Currently sat on a delayed, hot and very slow Last Great Western train from Paddington to Plymouth
Half the passengers are bored and now having loud, very dull and very long chats on their mobiles so we can all enjoy their crap conversations
" How did Tarquin get on with his 5m run at school today
How is Clive in Sales progressing with that software solution spec "
" we need to strategise that .."
Etc
Definition of hell..what's happened to respecting other folk's space and general public decency??

Was on the train into London and a vacuous yummy mummy spent 45 minutes ringing everyone she knew talking about nothing in particular. Anything from how Jemima was doing in kindergarten and how she was managing her potty training, to speaking to her equally vacuous friends about the same things.
At the end of the journey and as the train was pulling into the station she finally finished her calls and unprompted everyone gave her a round of applause. She just sat there looking vacant wondering what was going on. Given I was sat opposite her I felt duty bound to tell her it was for a celebration of silence. She still looked vacant, so I said that everyone was celebrating the fact her incessant phone conversations had finished. I thought this might sink in, but no. She still looked vacant.
I was grabbing my bag when the guy in the seat on the other side asked her what train she was returning on. She said the 17:30 and he just said "I will be fecking well avoiding that one then".
How the hell she held down a job in the city was beyond me.

You're in a box designed to move peasants that can't drive across the country. It's unreasonable to expect public decency and respectfulness. As long as you come out without some sort of disease and alive then you should call it a win and move on. Puggit said:

And this is exactly why I always book a seat in the Quiet Coach on any train journey....
Feel free to book, but it guarantees nothing!
On the way to London last week I was sat in the quiet coach and every time a chap turned the page of his newspaper all you heard was "tutt" from some woman behind...get a grip!

Coming into land at Manchester on Wednesday morning, descending over Stockport and all I could here was "welcome to the EE top up line, if you wish to top up using a debit or credit card, please press 1" and so it went on on speaker phone for the entire approach and taxi into the gate. Grr......

However, the stupendously irritating Virgin Announcement system is still turned up to 11, still makes at least 15 pointless announcements every 30 minutes to tell you things you already know, and still drives you mad as the 'shop' person reads a list of every f**king item that they sell, really slowly.

When I was a student about ten years ago at uni I was on the train to said uni and there was a woman sitting opposite me phoning every person she could possibly think of to tell them about her daughters recent page 3 photo shoot and how relieved at how "tasteful" it was. True story.
You should have done the decent thing and ask to take a look at them.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
