Probably worth saying that I cannot believe my life has come to this. Right now the missus and the little chap are away, and I'm home alone for the weekend. So what do I do on a Saturday night of utter freedom? Sit in the garage and remove the front axle from my ride on lawn mower. FFS I think I need to have a word with myself!

And now...my mind wanders to the fact that I need some new slippers for the winter. My old camo North Face mules are a)shagged, b)stink, and c)are a bit warm really for a house with underfloor heating. Fine in the Himalayas I'm sure, however a bit OTT for me.

However I refuse to buy some hideous M&S nursing home special tartan things (for a few years anyway), so what's out there that looks good, is comfy, won't be lethal on wooden floors downstairs or trash carpet upstairs? Those Mahabis looked good...but £80 for a fecking pair of slippers? Really? And no, novelty giant Guinness slippers from Dublin Airport aren't an option either.

And I know this is PH but anything branded "Sparco" is going to look stupid with a dressing gown...

Because you must be a company director and you really didn't mean your comment on £80 being expensive.

Again, WTF?

I did start googling for slippers, but many featured "an elasticated gusset" which had me heading for the "juvenile things that make me snigger" thread...

Sensible suggestions only please! If I was going novelty, clearly I'd be wearing a pair of these and putting the stinky insoles in from my North Face mules for added realism.

Not sure I get slippers. What is wrong with just socks? Your house cant be that cold, surely, that you need shoes and socks inside the house.

Well after taking a look at the north face mules you really can't do much worse. They look like mini hovercrafts rofl personally I prefer to be barefoot.

I don't get slippers either, I'm always barefoot in the house anyway as I hate having something on my feet, if I need to pop outside briefly I just bung my flip flops on.

I hate wearing slippers and never wear them at home. When visiting the OH's family, they always give you some slippers for wearing in the house but I tend to kick them off as soon as I can get away with it.

Wearing shoes in the house just seems wrong, even if they are super comfy. Would you wear gloves in the home too?

Had a pair of M& S slippers for nearly 13 years which were battered , the backs folded over and lacking in insulation but fitted like a second skin.

She bought me a new pair in April and dumped my trusty slippers in the bin , life isn't the same since .

I'm thinking of getting some for work. I currently just wear socks (or even no socks at all as I wear flipflops in the overseas office) around the office. Slippers would be better.
