West Hampstead is definitely doable. In fact 'The Black Lion' on West End Lane is pretty good - very big - big garden, and good food, real ales etc...

The Washington in Belsize Park is good.

My stamping ground.

West Hampstead has improved, but it's not what you're looking fro.

For wine, there's the Truscott Wine Cellars in Belsize Park or 28 Church Row in Hampstead. I prefer the latter.

For beer, the Horseshoe, opposite Tesco or the Wells.

Lots of nurses from the Royal Free used to frequent the Washington when I lived in Belsize Park. But, that was many, many, many years ago.

I''d be surprised if that was still the case judging by who I see there, but don't take my word for it. There's a white and a black GT3 RS 4.0 that shows up parked outside every so often.

Truscott Cellars is ok, but a bit dark and cramped for my like. Worth dropping by to form your own opinions.

The Wells isn't bad if you venture towards the Heath.

Try 28 Church Row; it's run by the people that used to run the Old White Bear.

I'll check it out - The White Bear seems destined to be turned into flats now.

Yes, to my disgust. The Magdala too.

WH is much improved but I preferred it when Lately's was the main game in town. smile. The Black Lion is a little bit 'football'

The Flask in Hampstead is still a little grotty and I prefer the Wells Tavern a few hundred yards towards the Heath. Still takes a lot to beat the Holly Bush. The Freemasons down on Devonshire is a little too trendy and the pub opposite Tescos only sells bottled Camden tramp's piss. The King William is decidedly less gay than it used to be.

If you fear drinking alone then PM me as I'm always keen for a mellow pint and discussing cars rather than lease deals. biggrin

Well that's painted an image! Pretty binary evening ahead either pissing yourselves laughing or visiting the late night Belsize Park chemist for razor blades. biggrin
