Unisex public toilets?
Discussion
I saw a proposal recently for unisex public toilets and it struck me that I've never seen this done before, anywhere.
Seems sensible to me for normal people, just wondering if it might be a magnet for blokes that are a bit... odd though. Or maybe a bit intimidating for a young female to go in alone and find a couple of blokes in there.
Anyone got any of these where they live?

A couple of my local pubs just have one set of toilets for men and women, all cubicles of course, but with shared basins and dryers. But not quite the same as having them out in public in a less controlled environment.
As a bloke it doesn't worry me, but I do know there are unfortunately some odd types around who would possibly do what you suggest might happen.
Would be feasible if all the cubicles were fully enclosed with no under/over gaps for perverts

This sounds like a terrible idea. On top of the problems you mention:
1: I don't want to have to queue
2: I would like my willful delusion that women don't have digestive tracts to remain unshattered
3: Sanitary bins, keep that s
t away from me
They had unisex toilets in my university bar, I was not a fan and neither was anyone else.

This.If men are going to have to share toilets with women then first women need to be trained how to use a toilet without, seemingly, doing a week's ironing, writing a letter to their local MP and knitting a sweater while they're in there.

3. definitely an issue. My female colleagues tell me their toilets at work are horrendous due to this. 1: I don't want to have to queue

Nottingham City Council closed two nearby decent male & female toilets & put this thing outside. One toilet for M&F plus disabled use. At a cost of twenty pence a go.
No good if there is a queue !

Having followed "Ladies" into public toilets they have used (Usually when the Ladies toilet is closed and they are using the gents) I would rather not share with them. They seem to hover about 3 foot over the bowl with a sprinkler attachment fitted. usually with the seat well within the arc. Disgusting.

The flipside is men will need to learn to use the toilet without pissing on the floor or the seat, not pebbledashing the bowl, and not carpeting the floor in discarded looroll.
If the stories my OH tells me are anything to go by women are every bit as messy. Of course, as soon as men are allowed in the same block it'll all be their fault.Dogwatch said:
They have them in Chichester. The cubicles open onto the street (actually a car park) so no indoor communal area. There is a separate room for urinals so blokes hardly need to use the cubicles.
Works OK.
Ah, I've seen these. The ones I refer to have a communal area and then cubicles within. They do appear to have sinks and hand dryers within the cubicles however. Works OK.

As has been said, it's not just messy blokes that you need to be concerned about. Women can be dirty b
hes, I've heard lots of horror stories about how they leave their facilities
One of my previous employers had around 6 females compared to the 60 males. All the complaints related to the female toilets and the cleanliness of them. The complaints for the gents - that people were defacing posters with a pen
