I would like to buy the missus a pen holder for Christmas, she really like the style of the Mont Blanc crystal pen holder....

but I can only find them on eBay from the states and I can't trust that they'll be the real deal at that price.

Anyone out there know of any similar styled holders, genuine, imitation or from another pen manufacturer?

Wheelers Luxury Gifts occasionally get them in stock. Might be worth a look.

I think that this is an old model, now replaced with a leather item.

Always one to state the blindingly obvious, - I assume that she has a 149 as other pens will not fit?

The Pen Shop has a few branches around the country and I have seen one of these ion there branch in Edinburgh but it was a while ago. Perhaps ask the Pen Shop head office if any of their branches has old stock.

You also ask if we know of any similar stand to the MB crystal job. It is not that simple, the thread in the cap will need to be specific to the fountain pen used by your wife and if she uses a Montblanc 149 then no other pen holder will do.

I am on a fountain pen forum, contact me by PM if you want me to ask if anyone has one for sale.

The pen holder is mightier than the scabbard.

If you buy one of these what do you do with the lid that came with your pen?*

Wouldn't you just stash it somewhere and lose it?

Its a good question.

These caps can crack, a bit too easily, so if it goes in her bag or her desk drawer and gets cracked then they can cost £150 to replace the cap.

If you leave the pen and the holder on the desk they are likely to get nicked, the pen and cap costs £650 plus and the holder will be approaching £200. Not an issue if it is to be used at home but a risk in a general office.

I am too. Most of the pens I own are vintage though so no help to the OP.
