ok , bear with me , i am really bored and stuck at home today .
if we can forget for a moment about the amount of money we need to earn to maintain out lifestyles , such as they might be . what would you really enjoy doing as an occupation?
may i start this off ?
i love the sensation of hearing a piece of great music for the first time . to be involved in that process as a full time job would be my dream job. other than possibly being able to play a tambourine , i have no musical ability . but we are talking dream jobs.
over to you...

I'd love to work a job where I can be involved in restoring and maintaining some facets of the Industrial Revolution, either through working on old railways or old canals, both of which fascinate me. I would take immense pleasure in trundling up and down the railways of the UK, and the industrial waterways, and preserving all the good bits of them, and showing them off to other people.

  • edit to add - as per the suggestion below, bra fitter, but maybe at the Victoria's Secret fashion shows.

Buy a big ol' bit of land with necessary planning permission to run a stay-cation fishery. Differently stocked lakes with accommodation surrounding each lake...

Something that paid me lots of money for doing as little as possible so I could spend my time doing things I actually enjoy rather than slaving for money. In fact writing a Christmas song\jingle like the protagonists father in About a Boy would be perfect so that the royalty checks keep rolling in every year.

The films "message" was that he was effectively wasting his life, seemed like the idyllic lifestyle to me.

I'd like to audition lap dancers.

Or photography, which is moderately more achievable.

i'd love to be a travel writer, and tour the world with my wife watching the sunset over awesome scenery.

i doubt my English is up to it (yes I know about the capitals etc)

i would like to be the next bill bryson.

love his books to read, the audio ones he narrates are dire, i just can't deal with his voice smile

If I didn't need to consider the financial implications of my day's activities I'd split my time between making music and making art.

Re your ideal job... As with most jobs (I'm a composer), it's never as good as you'd think. The good bits (working in studios with musicians) are great, but most of it is dealing with producers, budgets and the taxman.

Still, I really can't complain, it is a very pleasant and creative way to earn a living.

Mountain guide

Alas it requires training such that I couldn't retrain at my age, and even if I could, I'd not be able to relocate to the mountains for family reasons
