Identify This Insect

Just spotted on the exterior of my patio doors - any ideas?

Usually some sort of Ichneumon Wasp with that body shape - freaky scary looking (especially the ones with a big 'sting' ovipositor) but harmless.

Its the adult breeding stage of those earworm thingys from Wrath of Khan.
Totally harmless unless they lay eggs in your brain.
