Can the steam levels on an e cigarette be adjusted? Reason I ask is recently I've seen a lot of people vaping and producing huge clouds of steam, but then others just seem to get on with it quietly with not much of a whiff. I was at a fireworks display yesterday and if Fred dibnah was still alive he would have made a beeline for these two particular people vaping, thinking that they were a stationary steam engine. It always seems to be the 18-30 age bracket as well. Is this a new way of expressing fkwittery? If it is, I'm going to do a Lily Allen-Esque thing here and apologise on behalf of my generation. I am however not in tears.

I agree with your sentiments. IMHO it's a bit of a strange thing to do, really. Either stop smoking, or carry on smoking. Constantly having an over-complicated, over-sized electronic flute in your mouth wherever you go is not going to solve the problem, and it makes you look like a bit of a man-child in the process. Also, I doubt that most of these things that run on 18650 batteries are using anything other than the cheapest Chinese ones that were available, and I don't like the idea of having something with such a potential for thermal runaway so close to my face!

This is probably going to be one of my less popular posts, but hey ho!

I love watching vapers doing steam displays, maybe I'm just odd. I don't have one but it looks kinda satisfying.

More so I love watching non-vapers in the outside air flapping their arms, running for cover and getting exceptionally het up about it.

You'd be surprised. There's a strong push for better quality batteries.

I've vaped for four years, and have seen the equipment come on leaps and bounds from those early days. Whilst it'll never look cool (especially those chucking out huge clouds from multicoil high wattage devices), I don't care. It's better than stinking of fags, I (like most) can be very discreet, and my lungs are much better for it.

It's the only form of nrt that's worked for me (and I've tried them all), and on that basis I'm a fan.

The industry is huge, and the market is really moving on quickly. For the price of a week's worth of ciggies you can have a setup that'll pretty much guarantee a successful swap for a lower harm alternative to smoking, then for a tenner a week you're sorted.

I do dislike sitting at a set of traffic lights and seeing/smelling huge clouds being blown from stickered up chav hatchbacks though - more than most daily irritants that one passes me off.

It's the latest craze. I had a couple of sparkys in my workshop the other week showing off with it, one blew a cloud so big all you could see was his boots, the other looked like a steam engine at full chat. Quite amusing for 1 minute, let them get on with it, it doesn't bother me, better than either smoking on the spot, or wasting time outside doing it.

It isn't though, they are just like a modern day version of the pipe. I was watching them work (they were on hourly rate), whenever they had to pause and think of their next move this thing was pushed into the mouth for a couple of puffs before cracking on with the next bit.

I have a sneaky vape at work. When I first started using it I remember the first day thinking oh god, how will I cope without a full ciggie but it worked the other way. I can have a couple of puffs on it and get straight back on with work without the desire to smoke a whole cigarette's worth. Just wish I could get used to using it at home where it is too easy to pop outside for the real thing.

No, me too. The hilariously massive clouds make me smile. I imagine it'd be kind of fun, and doesn't hurt anyone so why not.

I know someone who never smoked and vapes now on the 0mg ... I don't get it either, seems and odd thing to just take up rather than a mechanism to wean yourself off something (i.e. Smoking) like was originally intended

It's not strange, I got into a vicious circle where I wasn't happy when I quit smoking and I wasn't happy when I smoked. The e-cig has helped me to reduce the harm I'm doing and allowed me to get in a better frame of mind if I choose to quit completely.

About the same point as starting smoking I guess.

Personally I'm a big vaper, I do about 20-30ml a day and love it, make my own liquids etc. however when in public I am discreet, I also dot blow great big clouds when sitting next to the mrs. Even as someone who vapes a lot I really dislike being enveloped in a cloud of someone else's vapour.

You can often see clouds coming out of car windows these days - I'm surprised they haven't been banned while driving as they can probably barely see where they are going!
