So, after getting involved with this on Facebook the other day, I thought I'd bring it over to her rather than reposting on FB, as PHers must have far more diverse taste than a bunch of students!

Basically, I'm looking for six (or more) people to participate in a book exchange. You can be anywhere in the world - the farther we get the better.
All you have to do is buy your favourite book (second hand is fine) and send it to a stranger (you'll get their details through Private Message).
You will receive approximately 36 books back for your personal collection to keep - they'll be favourite novels from other strangers.

If yo're interested, please reply to this thread to say so.

Here's how it's going to work: Please copy and paste my post to Facebook or another forum, then send your favourite book to the person I am passing this on from.
To the people who like YOUR status or post you will give MY address.
Once you send my address to people, whoever likes their status will get your address! When you send this message to your likes, swap my address in for yours, and move mine up. You can send a book online from e.g. Amazon/Book Depository at pretty low cost or if you have a favorite book at home that you're happy to part with you can send that one (providing it's in relatively good order). Whichever way works - but please make sure you send a book - this will only work if people participate

If everyone sends a book and receives one back, the scheme will work.
If not, then the standard pyramid flaw will occur rather quickly...

The idea is that each person gets way more than one book back, due to each subsequent recipient gathering more people of their own.
Like any normal person, I dont fall for pyramid schemes - but for the cost of a good used book I dont mind taking part in this to spread my favourite author's work

Are you expecting 36 copies of Escort, Fiesta or Dagenham Dames in return?

Reminds me of a picture postcard chain letter thing I got into when I was about 10. the list/pyramid comprised 5 people/levels and you sent 5 invitations to join and a postcard to the person at the top of the list. Harmless enough and interesting to see where these things go. But, rather than receiving the maximum 3125 cards back, I received precisely 2!

Are you sure that the Bible and His Velvet Touch don't have the same plot?
