Bit of a last minute work gig. I find myself in Stratford upon Avon for a work related conference today and tomorrow. I'm fairly antisocial at the best of times and having spent all day with 100 plus cops, the last thing I want to do
Is spend the evening with them (to be fair, they probably feel the same about me). As an infrequent "business traveller", any recommendations for tonight? My hotel is pretty central. Ideally, a decent city centre pub will do for tonight. I don't fancy the cinema, RSC and the PH staple of "coke and hookers" will be a career limiting move.

So I throw myself to the collective brilliance and sheer randomness of The Longe, to prevent me going "Full Partridge" and dismantling the in room trouser press to stave off tonight's terminal boredom.

We always head for the Garrick Inn on the High Street almost opposite the junction with Sheep Street.

The Wetherspoons isn't bad if you like that sort of thing. There's enough watering holes to choose from to cater for most tastes.

We always arrive by boat so tend to pop out for a few drinks and then head back there for the evening.

Cheers. Will have a look at the Garrick. Not a huge fan of Wetherspoons.

If you've unexpectedly got a semi I would have thought it was obvious what to do with it, no matter which town you're in.

When I was last in Stratford I was only there for lunch, but the time before that, 10 years ago, I experienced my first strip club, which was nice. Cas Bar I seem to recall it was called!

I too like the burlesque idea! Not sure about the legal highs though...

And the semi has lapsed to fully flaccid.

If you need food you can't beat Lambs on Sheep Street - one of my favourite restaurants smile

It's fully catered but handy to know about Lambs for future trips. Or a second dinner tonight...

My grandad lives there. He hasn't left the house for a few years and doesn't accept visitors he doesn't know, but he loves a good chat on the phone if that's any good to you

Shame it's not next week - I'll be there Wednesday to Friday.

Would have been good to have a catch-up...

+1 for the Mucky Duck ( the Black Swan ).
There will be plenty of space outside on the back terrace if you want some quiet time with your semi. It will be a bit nippy out there at this time of year though.

The Garrick is a great pub. If you want more wine bar style the Church Street Townhouse down the road from the Garrick is ok and The Encore at the bottom of Bride Street is worth a look.

Lambs and The Opposition restaurants share the same kitchen, so both are good.

Caz Bar on Union Street is open till 5am if you really can't sleep (and you want a private dance wink )

Stratford-upon-Avon is one of my favorate places in the UK, a really nice town/village.

The white swan was good for a bit of food and a drink, like a country glastro pub

I used to really like the lazy cow too, right on the riverside, but belive that has closed down now, on google maps its now showing as Cox's yard, nice location but cant comment on the new owners etc

Town (quite a large one) Cox's yard was the pub prior to The Lazy Cow.

Blydi hell - you must live in Mexico City for Stratford to seem a village!
