This is an amazing job of work by the Japs.

Perhaps we should send a delegation of council highways bods over on a fact finding mission.

How long would it have taken to repair over here do we think?

A year?

It'll take 2 years to risk assess the trip to Japan, another year to shortlist who is going to go and a couple of years for the council to approve the funding for the trip.

By that time, 50% of the original shortlist will have retired and the rest will be on sick leave with the stress of the possibility of having to go to Japan.

If that happened in Bristol the Council would (after2yrs of inactivity) call it essential to reducing pollution and discouraging car use, and so leave it...

From what the Japanese have learnt from this situation, if it were to arise again, it would probably be fixed in 4 days.

In fairness though this is right outside Hakata station, think Kings Cross in London.

Im not knocking them and indeed i love Fukuoka if only because it always triggers swear filters on emails, but there are lots of people pointing out tht there are sink hole in the UK from months if not years ago still not fixed, i suggest this is hardly a fair comparison. As stated earlier lets get one in the middle of London and see how quickly it is repaired, i agree it wont be near this time frame but it might not be as far off as we think.

Id also like to point out that whilst i am not in the city at the moment the first my mate had heard of this was when i emailed him to ask if he had seen it.

Just another point if anyone fancies a trip to the area, go into the station and go to sub level one, there is a little shop there which makes and sells theor own crisps which are served warm and are lovely.
