The Mrs isn't happy that I open the doors of my advent calendar and then tear them off leaving just windows rather than a calendar full of flaps of cardboard like hers ... apparently I'm odd for this ... is this true I wonder

(Ps I know we are in our 30s and still have advent calendars - I don't care on that point!)

I've done both way but I prefer to leave the door on which is strange for me as I'm a little OCD* about these things and in any other situation I'd remove them. The mess seems to fit with the season and it makes it more difficult/fun finding the next one as a result.

* I removed the plastic on the front of someone else's phone the other day, in my defence it wasn't a proper one but one that the phone arrives with from the factory. She was less than happy!

New phone protection plastic is almost sexual to remove and you just removed someone else's ... you should be in a cage ... animal!! Haha smile

If I get an advent calendar (big if!) I close the doors again after having removed the treat.

The only possible way of doing it is to open the top or bottom, take out the foil and plastic bit, and scoff the chocolate without opening the doors at all. Additional bonus points for not doing them all, but only eating a random selection.

I use a stanley knife and a ruler to measure the distance in from the sides on the back of the calendar and then extract them carefully through the smallest hole I can make. This leaves the front immaculate for future generations.
