You've really captured my f-ing, stty Xmas right there. Stranded in the middle of Scotland at the MIL's house. She has a bd dog from hell that's chewed everything in sight, humped everything to death and covered everything, including me, in a generous, festive layer of slobber. We can't even enjoy loads of fat bd snacks because the bd hound from hell wants to scoff all of them as soon as they're in position. I do enjoy the group shouting sessions at the dog when it chooses to hump some poor unfortunate again; really clears the lungs, that does. Can't wait for dinner tomorrow - it'll be like a cross between Jeremy Kyle and Big Daddy / Giant Haystacks all with a lovely coating of slobber.

The one telly that actually works is fixed forever on BBC2 because Satandog has chewed the remote on that, thanks for that. She crashed her car (a-fking-gain) last week so there's no chance of escape either. Thank god there is booze, so I can get through the constant left wing rants and PC, be-nice-to-everybody-even-if-they-want-to-kill-you lessons.

I hope Santa takes pity on me and delivers me a shiny, new bolt gun for the dog and a suitable means of escape!

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all PHers and a happy new year. Could be worse!

Excellent rant pss1, you've summed up the festivities well. (although I actually enjoy meeting up with a lot of my extended family)

The boy woke up at 2:30.
Due to the sheer number of people in my house, we're currently sleeping in the living room on an air bed.

The boy went through every room in the house until he found us.

My two are grown up now, so don't get up and hassle us mega early on Christmas day; youngest has just got up to go to the loo and has gone back to bed, however even when younger they had never been early risers on Christmas day.

The dogs woke me up at 7:00 for breakfast though!

He's just been told he can't open gifts until everyone else is up and has breakfasted.

I am debating the "no presents until after the queens speech" position as an escalation path.

Thankfully it's not my house! Although I suppose it does make things easier for visitors.
