We're experiencing a power cut here in the Barnet/Southgate area. Started at about 11:07. House alarms going and xmas dinners being ruined.

I can't remember a power cut in this area since the Three Day week, back in the 70s.

Oh the humanity! There'll be rioting in the streets!

Just received a text from UK POWER. They say they are aware of the problem and are trying to fix it.

Opportunity for a Christmas barbecue?

It's damn warm - if a little breezy here up North in Northumberland, don't know what it's like in the smoke.

Hope it's sorted soon.

Thames water pumping station went down as well, lots with no water.

Power came back 90 minutes later. Kebab still a good idea, though.

Barely enough time to set up a Just Giving page.

I could hear the rending of clothes and gnashing of teeth all along the street. Another hour and it would have been carnage, I tell you. CARNAGE !

Worth checking with your DNO, SP Energy Networks pays £50 per person/ per hour between 11am-4pm (Christmas lunch time) if you're off supply.

Maybe they couldn't see how big your telly is or lookup the value of your house before going to press..
