Although I'm not that bothered about Christmas generally, no kids and quite happy to work on Christmas day, as I did today. I think the Christmas day evening is always a bit of a let down.

The presents have been opened, the day of feasting and drinking is beginning to pall, eff all on telly and the realisation that all the build up and anticipation is over for another year.

I think the week leading up to the festive period is best, parties, socialising, and people generally being in a happy mode.

That said, I still prefer summer!

The build up is purely marketing to get you to spend your money.

I like the time off with my family. I despise the materialistic nature of it and the excess though. People seem to go mad.

Spent today driving a Vauxhall Zafira diesel taxi so after that dinner and a few hours TV is a welcome respite.

See the phantoms filling the sky around you. They astound you, I can tell, these inhabitants of hell. Poor wretches whom the Hand of Heaven ignores. Beware, beware, beware, lest their dreadful fate be yours!

Too much food, not enough drink, indigestion tablet now taken, it's 10:30pm and I'm really struggling to stay awake.

It's all a little predictable and boring but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm in this boat. Although I think I may have hit the optimum on the drink front this year smile

Had my daughter and her other half down on Friday afternoon to stay over. Nice chimichanga in the marina, saluted fillet in the evening and a few laughs and games. They left about midday Christmas Eve and duly went collected the meats, put it all away and went off to pick up my mum in Surrey, visited my brother with her in Sussex (due to caring for a sick wife, he could not get out to visit her) on Christmas Eve. Got back to the Hampshire coast while having a nice chat with just me and mum and had a nice afternoon / evening with my her who still misses my dad (as do I) after 5 years since his passing and my beautiful missus.

Got up at 7:30 this morning and headed off to my other daughter with pressies for her and the kids. Mum loved it. Got back and did a bit of dinner, had a few beers opened pressies and spoke to a few friends / relatives on the phone. Great night with mum and missus, TV on but the only thing that got watched was strictly. Just reminiscing all night and having no a right laugh. Missus got a bit pie eyed on Prosecco.

So I am up racking my brain on what my mum would like to do tomorrow (86 but still quite sprightly) and how we can better today for her. Guess it won't be a George Michael gig frown

I painted my entire living room, 5 coats on the dark wall, still had time for golf, came home to crispy clean walls and whisky

Mrs Pints back at work this morning. My parents will be around later to help reduce the leftovers, while my mother stares at her Facebook. The HalfPints will probably require assistance with the toys they're likely to have broken overnight. But at least there is less than a week of 2016 left.

Glad its out of the way, been eating really sensibly and went mad yesterday, by recent standards anyway and work up at 4.30 feeling dreadful, Christmas kind of ruins a good week off !

Went to her mums, was ok but wanted to just laze at home.

Going to go for a long walk and not eat loads and booze today.

I enjoy Xmas as the kids open lots of pressies and my favourite dinner of the year is Xmas dinner.

This year though I spent all day massively ill and laying down trying to sleep and not managing a bite to eat. Rubbish.

Wife, son and I had Xmas at home just the 3 of us for the first time ever which was lovely. Meant my son could just do as he pleased playing with new toys and Xbox games. We had the dinner we wanted, lovely fillet of beef with dauphinoise potatoes, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire puddings etc, rather than turkey and sprouts at my mums which all of us hate. First glass of champers at 5:30 when son woke us up, followed by beer and red wine as the day progressed without one of us having to drive, and no hangover this morning - bonus! Then had an evening of family films tucked up on the sofa together. Just a really nice Sunday to be honest, plus presents.

Only downside wife has a cough and cold, and I woke up yesterday morning with conjunctivitis and a cold. Both feeling a bit rough this morning and we've got 30 people coming to ours this evening for a party rolleyes

Was supposed to be going to watch Leicester City this afternoon but decided to give that a miss (son wasn't bothered anyway) and help wife prepare instead. Thought I'd win some brownie points for that but I think she'd rather we were out from under her feet, so is suggesting we go to the pub before the game at least. Normally I'd happily agree but as my eyes are all swollen up and weeping, I'm not a pretty sight laugh

I hate Christmas, I really do.

Commercialism on the largest of scales with a religious backdrop. Nothing I despise more than commercialism and religion.

Christmas is that time of year when you think Islamic state do have a good point to make.
