When ever the oh and I go round to friends or out for a meal with people I am always surprised how little people tend to drink with a meal.

If at home I will drink three or four pint glasses or water or fizzy water. Very rarely do I have soft drinks as I just don't like them.

In the day I tend to drink a lot of tea and water so I don't think I'm making up for liquid I have not had during the day.

If we go out for a meal in will have orange juice and lemonade occasionally I will have a lager but not very often.

If we go over to friends they only have about half a pint of coke with the entire meal. So is it me that drinks a lot or is it people that one know who do not drink much?

Three or four pints of water just with your meal? That does seem a lot.

I have never been one to drink loads at all, I don't know why, but I have rarely had the 8 glasses of water a day recommended to us.

At work, I tend to drink maybe 3 or 4 cups of coffee during the day, and then in the evening, I'll maybe have one or two glasses of squash or a soft drink if there is any there. Don't normally drink during the week at home, so unless I'm going out that's pretty much it for me.

At weekends and therefore not at work, I'll have less coffee and more soft drinks/squash or similar.

Tend to avoid pure tap water around here as the taste is a bit "off" from what I am used to though it isn't unpleasant it just is better with something added to it.

I probably drink 3 pints of squash with my evening meal, weird but if I drink straight water it gives me a headache, sparkling water or squash is fine.

That is a hell of a lot. If you're genuinely that thirsty, I'd get a diabetes check just to be sure it's not that.

You must be at the toilet constantly.

I drink water during the day, not much at dinner. I usually drink wine at dinner.

I have about 5 pints of water a day. Sometimes have juice with it too and the odd can of Pepsi Max. The evening I'll probably only have one pint. I don't drink with meals unless eating out.

For those saying a couple of pints of water is a lot be advised that 3L is what is recommended to maintain healthy kidneys.

I try to drink at least 2L of water every day to ensure I'm hydrated. I find that a struggle sometimes so god knows how anyone can manage 3 pints with dinner!!

I'll usually knock back a pint or water when I get in from work. Having seen 90 minute son a bus/train I usually feel thirsty. Then I'll have another pint of water or squash with an evening meal.

3-4 pints with one meal sounds like a hell of a lot. Assuming you don't take 4 hours to eat your meal haha smile

I'll tend to drink 4 pints of drink (mix of soft drink and water) - less if alcohol is involved. That's from a pre-dinner drink through until before I go to bed with a cup of tea.

People drink water?

Drinking with/after your meal dilutes stomach acids and may slow digestion.

Q: How much do I drink in the evening that's not alcohol?
A1: Whatever the other 60% is that makes up whiskey.
A2: Whatever the other 80% is that makes up port.

I drink 3 mugs during the day at work, now by mugs I mean MASSIVE mugs of 900ml.

Once home I'll move to water/squash/fruit juice or sometimes lemonade but it will be at least another litre over the course of the evening even to the point that for years I've had to keep a drink by my bed at night as I wake up thirsty.

But the reason I drink so much is I have a duplex kidney, effectively on one side I have two fully functioning kidneys plus the standard one on the other side. So each is pulling a certain amount of fluid from my bloodstream each day so hence drinking more.

Can be a total PITA arse on days out either deliberately becoming dehydrated so not always needing to find a toilet or drinking but then always bursting to go.

I never drink straight water and very rarely soft/fizzy drinks, but will drink several cups of tea and coffee during the day.

I never have a drink with a meal, but usually have a cuppa afterwards.

Where do you guys put several pints of water, I would feel like I was drowning.
