Am I the only person who gets a little miffed with the following:

1. You read on their website: "Orders placed before 3pm will ship the same day!"
2. You buy the item at 10am and pay for next day delivery.
3. Item turns up two days later.
4. Examine the tracking and you see the item did not ship on the same day.

This seems to happen constantly. In fact, I can't remember the last time I paid for next day delivery and the item actually turned up the next day.

I'm also annoyed that I'm an idiot who, despite being burned every single damn time, still pays for next day delivery. I suppose in my head I see 4-5 delivery and interpret that as being 7-8 days.

Ok, I'm done. Have a lovely day.

Ive had the opposite recently with House of Fraser who I ordered an item with knowing I couldnt collect it for a couple of weeks but was a bargain price, selected my chosen collection date a couple of weeks away, within 24hrs I recieved a message saying the order was in store and ready to collect(!) ... fast forward a couple of weeks to when I could collect it and low and behold they had sent it back as it hadnt been collected within the 10days from arrival at store (even though arrival plus 10days was still BEFORE my elected collection date!) ... numpties!

as a side note, if youre paying extra and have the evidence of the order being made before the allotted time and the despatch notice being the day after I would challenge for a refund of the costs!

This requires context. Was it dispatched on the first working day of the year?

I just had a delivery from Amazon Prime which I ordered on Tuesday but, to be fair, it was quite late in the day when I placed the order. Something curious happened though ... when I ordered it it said "one left in stock" and then after placing the order I went back to the item and it said "in stock", as though there were plenty. Had they noted me viewing it a few times and decided to use the "one more in stock" thing to give me the final kick to order it as it clearly hadn't gone out of stock after I'd made the purchase?

Something Amazon used to do, which I found really annoying, was an item page would indicate the shipping time but then after you ordered it, it said it was due to be dispatched on a certain date (a few days after I'd placed the order) and then the shipping time was to add to that, so I was completely misled about how long it would take to arrive.

I was disappointed last year when we'd booked an impromtou family camping trip and ordered a tent which was supposedly in stock with delivery in time for the trip only for the company to say the tent wasn't actually in stock at all. Had to cancel the camping. Gits.

Had that problem with some ladders on Amazon marketplace.

Ordered, in stock, didn't select any special delivery, oh not in stock after all. Not coming back into stock until 4 days after original delivery date, do you want to cancel? Said I'd wait, not urgent. Delayed again, want to cancel? Wait. Delayed again, want to cancel?

Seemed like they wanted me to cancel as suspect a price increase had caught them out. 3wm Ltd, not use you again, feedback suggested you have form for selling stuff out of stock.

Re ordered from ladders online, arrived in 36 hours.

I ordered an item on Prime yesterday morning for next day delivery. It's now 18:25 and the order status is "Arriving today on time" and also "dispatching soon, No tracking information. We're preparing your order. Carrier information will be updated soon."

So I guess it's coming by supersonic drone.

A friend of mine does parcel deliveries and he said he delivered his last one day at nearly 10pm.

Guy I work with uses Prime. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
Best one was a parcel to be delivered in Stockton.
It want from Leeds to Newcastle to Leeds to Newcastle to Leeds to .....
Was eventually cancelled and re ordered.
Apparently Amazon couldn't decide which depot to deliver it.

I never pay for next day. I always go for the cheapest method and am happy to wait.

If you complain on the web chat they'll give you an additional month of Prime.

Yup, mine was due in November but now doesn't renew until May or June. Online chat, tell them it hasn't arrived, they say sorry and they will add a month free to say sorry. Frustratingly they seem to have improved their service in my area so I might have to actually pay at some point!

Except when it doesn't. I ordered some batteries on 28th December using Amazon Prime (for my sons birthday present, 3rd Jan), Amazon quoted delivery as 31st December. I accept that there are weekends and bank holidays in the mix, but Amazon didn't even ship them until the 3rd Jan (they arrived by Royal Mail on the 4th). Not impressed.

Theres some useless wky co's about.

Ordered some lightbulbs and paid extra for nextday.

After a week I emailed them advising them asking that as there'd been no bulbs or contact could they please refund. Following day they reply they'll have them in tomorrow and can nextday them, like theyre doing something special right. Ask again - sorry no good now refund please.

Following day they email back to say I'll have to call to arrange refund. Half-an-hour later, and in spite of two requests not to, they email that they're despatched. Following day theyre delivered to my address. Great, except that specific job was done with alternatively sourced parts and I'm on the other side of the planet for a month.

Feel quite justified in wondering if I should just credit card chargeback and play games over collection.

Amazon are still doing this, I ordered a bottle of booze for my Dad's Christmas from them with next day delivery on the 19th of December, only after I ordered it I was told 'expected dispatch 28th December, expected arrival 29th'. Not very happy and not what I would call 'next day delivery'.

Can you think of any reasons why that blisteringly obvious solution might not have been a feasible? spin
