After seven years in the Philippines wife and daughter have dictated they want to come back to civilization, the dream is over, the house is being sold, we have descended into the grey and dreary English life once more.

It is gutting for me, as I'd built a life out there, a workshop, had car projects and sunshine. Lots of sunshine....

However, more pressing things are at hand, getting the daughter into a school mere months before o levels is proving to be a ball ache.

I have no tools, no projects, an empty, cold, grey workshop, no enthuse, no internet, an awesome case of man flu and an ever heavier credit card.....wife is still in the Phils trying to sell the house.....

Things can only get better, right?

Don't envy OP.

I moved back from Sydney to the UK in Feb 2001, I was single, without ties etc, logistically it was easy.

Walking out of Heathrow into the 'Sun' was depressing though, I could have sworn it was dusk, it was pretty much midday.

King Herald: Good luck with the transition, once again. thumbup

It'll all be fine.

Just think, before you know it we'll be in the middle of summer where, for a couple weeks, we might see temperatures hit 18C or above on an almost daily basis.

All depends on where in the UK, OP!

It was beautiful here in Sussex yesterday, even managed to play a round of golf in a polo shirt like it was Spring! (after the first 4 holes, when I took my jumper off!).

Your use of the term "o levels" leads me to think you've got some catching up to do.

Well, I left school in 1976, so I guess some things have moved on. wink

First blow, local school won't let my daughter in, for her gce's, headteacher: "because she might fail and it will reflect on me".

Hmmm, what else can go wrong?

You can always re-locate to Spain. At least it's warm.

Are they allowed to deny for that reason?

Just out of interest, what was it that your wife and daughter found so objectionable about the Philippines?
