So, my 2 best mates are indeed "playing away". Both in their 60's. One has had seperate bedrooms from his missus for 20+ years, and plays away with a woman he knew many years ago. He berates his missus, saying how he hates her. But still socialises with her family / friends etc. Then he is off to see his aged dad for a week - he goes there for a day or so then off to see his bit of sex. He reckons his missus doesn't know. Yea, right. I guess she is biding her time. He won't leave her / get divorced for money reasons ( like a £200K collection of bikes / £700K house / £25K per year pension. Hmmmm.

Other mate is shagging a "customer" of his. Reckons his missus doesn't know. Bit of sex has just declared her love for him. Oh dear. Tears on the horizon.

Now, my point is (I am widowed, have regualr gf, but live on my own), do guys like this really think that their OH doesn't know what is going on? Really?

Or am I naieve?

Have to ask. What would she be 'biding her time' for?

It isn't an infinite resource.

Good point/

What I meant, I think, is that she may be waiting for the oportunity to take him to the cleaners. Or perhaps when she thinks "enough of this".
Anyway, what do I know?!

Two points:

This is a bit of a daft question similar to 'how long is a piece of string'. Some people will cheat for years, and be so clever about it that they will never be suspected or caught, and others will get 'busted' after the first text message. And anywhere in between those two scenarios.

I can't understand those who seem obsessed with staying together to protect their money. You are only here once, and if I was in a completely doomed or miserable relationship, I would seek to exit it as promptly as possible, and try to start my life again and be happy, no matter what happened financially. I just cannot deal with seriously awkward or broken relationships. I would rather lose my cars and downsize my house than stay in a relationship that was awful.

Wives may know exactly what is going on but are happy to have their own lives without the trauma (and expense) of divorce proceedings. Something like having your cake and eating it.

I have a married mate who has been having occasional sex with a married woman for years now, his wife/her husband don't know.
It's a very sensible adult relationship and works.

I'm pondering over trying it on with my cleaner, not sure how to approach it though as I don't want to lose her as a cleaner. Usual thing, lovely figure, husband not interested in her any more.
I pondered about staying in bed, waiting until she came into clean then winking and patting the bed Benny Hill style, any pointers gratefully received smile

It always ends in tears.

Ask Peter Barlow or Steve McDonald.

No need for any pointers from us. You've got it nailed with that strategy.

Please update the thread with the results of your playful method. hehe

I think a bottle of Prosecco might help oil the wheels a bit too, I'm forming a plan bit by bit. scratchchin

Wooaaah! (That's 'slow down' for a horse) Prosecco?

All I hope is you're planning on marrying her! That kind of outlay can only signal 'rich bachelor' to any woman. Ever. Fact.

Just be careful the vacuum cleaner doesn't get misappropriated. What nationality is she just out of curiosity?

I don't think your approach will work - they much prefer a gentleman. It's also worth noting that they have one of the highest suicide rates in the world smile

This may indeed be the case. Indeed the wives may have their own bit of fun on the side, and/or they enjoy having the husband around but not bothering them for sex. Whatever works. It may not be orthodox, but it's commonplace. Things change. I learned today that a mate from school who I've not seen for nearly 20 yrs is probably gay. If so then I don't know what's changed because he was very popular with the ladies in his youth, far more than I was, he had a string of posh girls hanging around while he tooled about in a battered Mini or a S2 Landy that did 50mph and 15mpg. You never can tell.

If he dies she may get the lot.

If she divorces she may only get half.

This. She doesn't give a st about the physical relationship anymore. Eggs all spent, she no longer cares. They still have their friendship, though, and a life that works for her. So she's getting exactly what she wants.

He, on the other hand, isn't. So goes and gets it elsewhere. There will only be ructions if he tries to leave the wife. THEN you'll see that she knew all along. Once it matters - to her. Very, very predictable.

My uncle had his mistress LIVE in the same house as his wife. My auntie just ignored it. when he died, his mistress was expecting a slice of the action - she got nothing, my auntie got the lot. It was the scandal of the village...
