Slightly strange one....

I take my three kids - all under 10 but able to read - to a well known high street pizza restaurant for a quick Friday night pizza.

Restaurant is full of families with children due to end of school term of various ages and all having fun.

In walks another family - they have a boy of around 4/5 - very nicely dressed, etc. The guy is tiny and looks like an accountant.

They sit down and the guy takes off his coat - he is wearing a top with a cute picture of a ghost. Looking closer the ghost is holding up its middle finger and above it in fairly big letters it simply says F*#k Off in bold white letters. WTF??? I am literally lost for words.

After a while you can tell a lot of the kids and parents start spotting the guy and a lot of especially mums are clearly feeling uncomfortable and telling their kids not to look.

So what would you do:

A. Do nothing - not your business so eat your food and ignore him
B. Go and speak to the restaurant manager and ask him to do something
C. Go and have a quiet word with the guy and politely ask him to cover up his top
D. Go all "pistonheads" and cause a scene by telling the guy he is a moron wearing a top like that to a family restaurant and especially in front of his own son and that he and his wife should be ashamed. Get in the guy's face to the point he nearly cries and puts his coat on.

So... what would you have done?

E) Explain to the kids, that bloke is being naughty and to ignore him.

Difficult one, he is either wearing it due to being he is a chav wanting a reaction, or a bit thick. Neither is worth the bother.

Was it Hut or Express?

Also not to forget the option that seems to be the norm nowadays F) which is to take a photo and shame him on social media.

B. Go and speak to the restaurant manager and ask him to do something
Having worked in hospitality that is firmly the restaurant managers domain. The offending customer should have been informed of the clientele's ages and been refused service. From a managers perspective a simple "I'm sorry sir but your attire is clearly causing some of our customers distress on account of the accompanied children in the restaurant and dressed thus, I cannot serve you. Sorry, however should you wish to remove your jumper we would gladly store it in the cloakroom until you'd like to leave".

It's no different to a load of pissed up football hoolis turning the air blue. Someone at the top just needs to grow a pair.

Walk down any high street and you'll hear an absolute stload of obscenities from people of all ages.

I don't have kids but this seems a bit of a non-issue in the grand scheme of things surely? confused

The kids already know more swear words than you so I wouldn't worry.

Don't draw any attention to it at all. Chances are your kids won't even notice it and if you start making a scene about something written on a T-shirt then they'll be much more likely to remember it.

You missed
F) Tut, voice your displeasure quietly but just loud enough for them to hear. Complain to manager and get money knocked off the bill.
Send email to Daily mail, and anticipate forthcoming article standing there po-faced with a headline containing 'outrage'.

Bonus points:
G) Find stockist of said t-shirt, buy all stock so no-one else can further pollute the minds of innocent highly impressionable children.
Just like this daft bint (note the 'outrage' in the headline rofl ) : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2562680/Mo...

What would I have done? - probably nothing. The guy is wearing the shirt to get a reaction - reacting to it would just be feeding his ego and giving him what he wants.

You can only be offended if you choose to be.

He's obviously a bit of an arse, tell your kids that, I'm sure they'll understand; unfortunately there's plenty of them about, it was just unfortunate that he was in the same place as you.

It definitely was strange.

I live in what I consider to be a very family friendly part of London where the High Street is always full of kids. Any time before 7pm the restaurants are usually full of families with kids and especially so on a Friday night when there is a big football tournament between the schools nearby and a lot of parents take the kids for pizza after (same as me).

This wasn't any kind of chav. He was probably late 30s/early 40s. The wife was very nicely dressed and same with the son.

I had to do a triple take to make sure it really did say that on the top - at first I thought it was some kind of cheeky mispelling.

I don't get easily offended but my youngest is 4 and learning to read and my oldest is 7 and very curious - when it comes to my kids I am very sensitive. I don't need some idiot sat next to my kids with a top saying that at 5pm in a family restaurant.

What kind of moron takes his family and his own son into a crowded restaurant full of kids wearing a top like that???

In reality, I'd have just disregarded him and got on with my evening/life.

It's not worth causing a scene and ruining your evening for an idiot.
