My amazing wife has just unveiled my 40th birthday present, 2 years in the planning. A week in Solden with my best friends, boys only, but also making our own skis at a workshop in Innsbruck before heading to resort - the place is http://spurart.at/?lang=en

Apart from the fact that I am married to a complete legend, this also means I am getting very excited for March.

Has anyone else done this? Looks fun! Not sure I should ski on anything I build, though - let alone made by some of the muppets coming on this trip...

Also, I need to seriously up my game for her 40th in a few years. Spas etc won't cut it - what have you done for big presents for other halves that have brought the big brownie points?

Did I mention how excited I am?

You're approaching this from the wrong angle. She wants to know where he is for a week. smile

If I were her, I'd want some time off too, frankly. There's only so much retardedness a woman can put up with.

Joking aside, and I tell her this myself, I am really lucky to have her. We went through a st time at Christmas when we lost a baby, and she really suffered. Yet still seems to find time to do undeservedly great stuff for me.

In a PH full of divorce threads, take some hope, people!

I've read your loss thread, we've been through similar and came out the other side, keep going.

You say a spa won't cut it, it might do in a geothermal pool in Iceland. I got browny points.....

For SWMBO's birthday I gave her £500 to buy a dress for dinner as we were going to be going out that night. What I didn't tell her until we got to the check in desk that it was at the Burj al Arab in Dubai and we'd be there for a couple of nights. She was quite pleased.

Fantastic. Make sure you go to the Ice Q restaurant when you are there - it has amazing views!

Nice....

My wife organised a trip to Norway to see the northern lights - something I have always wanted to see (we did see them too, in spite of the heavy clouds).

Has to be said Harry, given the last few months you've had, this only goes to shows what an utterly amazing Mrs you have.

Frankly, you should thank your lucky stars morning, noon and night.

As to her 40th? Where on earth would you start? Good luck though.

Wow. Just...wow.

Mind you, Lady F likes Nissan Figaros. I can't bring myself to do it. Just...can't.

I know and believe me, I do. Given the way I have behaved for most of my adult life, I got pretty lucky in the end.

Love the Iceland idea so far...
