Was riding home having seen yet another "Proud to be" post on FaceBook and ruminated on why, if everyone is so bloody proud then why is the country such a litter strewn st tip, this is the Cheshire countryside, full of cans, bottles, crisps bags, coffee cup and McDonald's wrappers ?

Are these the same people, so proud but can use a fking bin ?

I do t know these 'proud' things you reference but I would hazard that if the two things are linked by anything it's low IQ?

The one thing that raises the temperature of my bladder is the "click and type y to see the magic" type drivel, when it is just a normal pic, and everybody with a fraction of a brain should know it is just a pic, and commenting is not going to do a single fking thing!

And then you see 550,483 comments have been made already, and a huge long list of 'y' comments... and...... :

eek:eek

Yes, I know, I'm going to hell for discussing Bookface on Piston heads. boxedinpaperbag

Yes, does seem to be a bit like that, I am not big into "Pride", seems to be, in some cases a synonym for "I'm a Big Racist", all the flags and gothic fonts dont help.

Say anything contrary you get called a "leftie snowflake"

Wish the OP had put 'Facebook related content' in the thread title, so those of us who know better than to use Facebook can skip over this thread tongue out

I know what you mean but I find it useful, you just have to be able to skim read and block people.

My other pet hate is people saying they are eating something NOM NOM NOM, morons.

There are roadworks on the A34 near Handforth dean shops and the litter there beggars belief, as people have to stop, it means that they finish their tasty beverage and then launch it out of the window, one does it, they think its ok.

It gets worse every passing year, more crap sold and more idiots that are happy to wade round in their own detritus.

Then they are paying you a complement. Take it and then remove them from your life.

Shouldn't you be busy starting threads about how England was better in the good old days before you left? All those empty streets without parked cars and all that tongue out

The "Proud to be British" pages tend to be too far towards very fiery edge of the right wing for my taste.

I don't really understand it, Pride in something you had little or no part in creating, and has anyone ever taken pride in a country they weren’t born in, or a least live in? Accident of birth is hardly an achievement.

Bingo, and I am sure other places are very nice also.

Same folk usually that repost the daily express stories about brown people doing bad things.

Pride is a ridiculous concept (unless you're referring to a pride of lions). Much like "honour" and "ego" and several other ridiculous human ideals through which we've managed to bend the very worst of human idiocy into a positive to save us from the overwhelming "shame" (that's another one) at the realisation that we're just meaningless bags of meat, stting and spunking our way through our pointless short lives until the inevitable trip into the everlasting void.

fk it and fk facebook. What's up with you man, have you no self esteem?

Yes, plenty thanks, I quite like Facebook as it has allowed me to get, and keep in touch with people who I don't see very often, it is full of cra but as a concept it does work, I don't feel the need to dismiss things because they are popular, I am with your sort of teenage nihilistic vision of life but had worked that out long ago and decided to just crack on and enjoy life and not worry about having a purpose beyond exploring, interacting with and enjoying its possibilities.

I kind of try not to be completely sardonic and world weary and fully appreciate my existence is not really any more important than one of the gormless fish in my tank but there is lots in this crazy sandbox to enjoy, including marvelling at how cretinous some of my aqaintences really are with their bhing about trump, immigrants and brexit and letting us know when they are eating (nom nom nom)

I think pride is a bit stupid like you say, other than perhaps in your kids or something constructive you have done but not for the location where you popped out of a fanny, it should be a quiet and dignified, personal thing, not a front for raging xenophobia.

Respect is another one, how many people have been shot for it ? Usually that is just used to mean fear.

I've not had the pleasure - is he/she a bit like 300bhppertone (name might be lightly off there) I once saw him argue that a Ferrari Mondial was not only a perfect vehicle for a 75 mile a day commute, it was the ONLY logical answer.
