I'm standing on the train from Euston to Crewe.
About 10 min ago I was standing next to two drug addicts clucking and twitching also going all the way. They don't have tickets, but that's not a problem for them as no one is checking tickets.
That's why my two new addict friends have just gone or sit in first class.
I'm still standing but at least it feels a bit less stabby now.

Even when it makes sense to use a train, I'd rather drive.

Nice to know who I'll be sharing my personal space with.

Report it to the guard, that's what they are paid for.

I'm pretty sure there will be one somewhere...

Have you looked?

If there is not one on the train (long distance) it is a disgrace.

I can see what you did wrong now.

You bought a council class ticket.

I won't travel by long distance train unless I have a 1st class seat.

I agree ... I've trained from Newcastle to Leicester today and had 2 people sit next to me ... one reeking of BO and the other of faeces

Not once did I have my tickets inspected or see a member of staff and the first thought it was rear as they interrupted me to brag at not having a ticket ... scum

What's the point if undesirables are going to sit next to you anyway?

Reserving a seat is a joke. People just ignore the reserved ticket & sit in the seat.

Well I asked to upgrade, the man was very nice and said we could probably go for free. He would carry on checking tickets and come back and tell us if there was room.
A few minutes later he handed us this...

Really really nice guy things were looking up.

So we tentatively went to the first class carriage. No sign of the druggys??
First class did have two seats but they were not together, they couldn't be less together. We have only been married for 4 months so still like each other. So we decided to return to our lower class seats. Now being sat on by a BIG hairy man.

Back to standing, serves us right for being greedy I suppose.

I get the train every day.

It's full of pleasant people who all smell normal. Even won some work from someone who I sometimes share the train with.

All in 'scum class'

Ultimately, that one fantastic act from a member of staff completely undoes any argument.

So show them your ticket and tell them to move?

public transport is rubbish, but inner city parking is worse.. Ill take a €5 train ride over paying €15 for a day of parking, only to be stuck in the mess that is city traffic.

If I'm travelling any distance I'll take the train every time if there's a reasonably direct service.

Yes there are a few chavs, but most people are decent enough and I can do a bit of work or read a book or surf the net (most trains have wifi now) and arrive unstressed.

The general standard of driving is just too poor and the roads too busy to be able to enjoy driving during the week now. Plus the amount of genuinely stupid people on the roads these days with very short attention spans.

There was a minor collision on an urban road near me recently. Someone pulled out without looking and a car went into the side of them. Fair enough, happens. But FIVE more cars went into the back of the car that hit the one pulling out! On a quiet urban road with a thirty limit!

All too busy checking their phones or fiddling with the iPods with their headphones in to take too much notice of what's going on in front of them.

I'll take the train, thanks.
