Postage cost of returning Ebay Item
Discussion
Yes. Ebay makes you partly dishonest. It's especially galling when the item is low value, and the only hope of a refund is if you send it via a recorded (expensive) service.
I unfortunately have a counter tactic, when possible. If anything does not work, I just say I did not receive it. Obviously it must not have been signed for in the first place. Ebay then gives you a full refund no ifs or buts.
No not ideal but my conscience is clear - if an item is non-functional it is still a total loss for the vendor, returned or otherwise. I just save on the return postage.
And screw the dishonest vendors who knowingly send out crap in the full knowledge that a return costs more than the item, so won't ever be returned and a refund never given.

Bit of a side issue but this link is one of the best I have read about interaction between buyers and sellers:

For a while now I have followed my gut instinct on e bay and blocked people. I do try and provide a good experience from people that buy from me. I don't want to sell to timewasters and messers.

Someone who needs to play mp3s.
And presumably doesn't own a smartphone?I was under the impression if it was faulty then return postage would be covered by the seller.
Most cases they do not have any issues , but on Ebay it may be a bit different.
I probably wouldn't be too fussed over 4 quid.
But I get it's the principle.
I know with us, if the item is faulty, we either don't ask for it back or we cover the cost of postage. It depends on the value of the item and if we need to give it to a supplier to get them to look into the problem. If you buy something and change your mind or you've picked the wrong thing (and it's not the fault of our look ups), then it's up to you to send it back.

Your conscience shouldn't be clear. The only loser in this situation is Royal Mail as they have to foot the bill for the missing item even though they have done their job as expected in delivering the item to you.I unfortunately have a counter tactic, when possible. You are lower than a snakes wedding tackle, and probably the reason no one likes ebay. The reason your conscience is clear is because you don't have one.I unfortunately have a counter tactic, when possible. If anything does not work, I just say I did not receive it.
