Doing GCSEs at college.

[King Herald]

I always remember that if you failed at school you could go to college and study for a year or two and equip yourself with a set of O levels to go out into the world with.

At what point did this change? I asked last week at our local college in Stafford about it and they said you can only do them as part of an actual vocational course. And even then it is only Maths and English.

Is this part of the new world order, or just our local yokel college?
