Potentially the most random question ever posted on these forums.

The Mrs is 30 in about 18 months and I'm trying to get my hands on one of these for her. Starting early as they seem impossible to get.

Stories of sneering sales people and "sorry sir, there's no list you need to be on you just can't have one," mean I'm unwilling to travel to a boutique without an "in." I live in Warwick and travelling to London multiple times just to be told "No" doesn't work for me.

So, any advice? Anyone have a hookup with Hermes? Feel free to Email if you'd not rather publicly say. A member on here helped me out bigtime sourcing a watch so you never know!

Thinking orange/palladium/40. For anyone (unlikely) interested!

They're more than double retail on eBay with receipts, just in case people aren't joking haha!

I'm under no illusion that this isn't a Veblen purchase, but if it makes her happy I don't care. Look at most of our cars when we could drive around in a citigo or something.

You could get her 20 DFS sofas instead. Just imagine the look on her face.

Does it have to be London?

Make a weekend of it and buy one from one of the Hermes shops in Paris.

Hah! If the shop assistant (real title) in the UK shop (real title) is a bit snippy, can you imagine what a French one will be like?!

No, I'm happy to get one from anywhere on the planet to be honest. I just need to know that I can get one in advance. I'm not going to fly to Paris just to be told no smile

Birkin is very much a step up from the 'run of the mill' (if you can call it that) Mulberry, Chanel etc. Serious cash. I'm assuming if you're going for one of these, she's already got an extensive handbag collection?

Have you called the London stores to see what they say? AFAIK they are only available in store.

I'm going to go with 9 months before its sat inside a wardrobe somewhere never to be used again...

Surely at that price, a nice watch or bracelet would be more meaningful and get far more use?? Each to their own and all that.

Id wager that if the OP can spunk 7.5k on satchel then his misses probably has the nice watches and jewellery already.

I can thank Posh Pawn for my understanding of expensive handbags.

Christ. Its a bag. And from the pictures you could probably find many similar looking bags in TK Maxx for a tenner.

Did you see the episode the other week with the 70 odd year old man/woman/thing/ape, that had had it's face done and wanted to sell two fag smelling Herpes bags to start her dog clothing empire for her beloved FooFoo, who had sadly passed away in a bathtub full of virgin's breast milk????

Faaakinell, she was mad as a box of frogs that one. rofl
