I've just been watching 'Inside the Freemasons' on tv. Lots of info about their ceremony's and ranks etc.

I just can't understand why anybody would want to do it???

It's an anachronism for the most part. One hundred or more years ago it was perhaps more relevant, but today? It's basically a bit odd.

Though, I suspect that there are some lodges where freemasonary is used with success for criminal purposes. I gather that successful criminal outfits have a mutul incentive not to betray the other members. Sometimes it's family. Freemasonary is a bit like a family.
