They sound asian to me.

OP - just listen, nod and make vague no-committal noises at the right time.

Moral of the story, don't be so successful you can't buy a house and end up getting divorced.

BiL needs to get the fk out of there, arrange for YS to buy out his part of the house (she can probably afford that given the job situation), and enjoy the fact that he did not have kids with delusional YS, get a new place and start over.

YS/OS/YB sound like a really dysfunctional family dynamic, where none of them realized that at some point you start a family of your own, and that family takes precedence over the one you grew up in.

Dude still has a lot of life of his own, a good job, no real ties once he gets a divorce etc.. time to cut his losses with the YS affair (and potentially try to get something out of a divorce, considering she earns more)

And OP, watch the fk out with your OHs family, they're a limpet mine from the sound of it, best keep your distance.

Sounds like BIL should have MTFU a long time ago and said no to the siblings staying beyond their initial move to london. 6 months is more than enough for them to have got a room in a house share.

BiL to be honest is not a nice guy, he is a patsy. It is them that finish last, not the nice guys that know when to make a stand.

As said he should have made a stand a long time ago - like when they moved back in after the renovations and before OS came back into the party.

Sounds like YS is being controlled by her other siblings. With any luck BiL with wake up and take her to the cleaners through the divorce courts if her asset base is greater than his - i am no family law solicitor but marriages of more than a few years with no kids usually end up 50/50 on the split is both earn.

What i don't get is how in all these years of living rent free OS has taken until now to save a deposit. Housing costs are at least £500pcm, if not well over double that, so (being generous) £750x24 =£18k deposit...

OP it's sad times.

IIWY i'd simply make my feelings known about your empathy for BIL's situation and the ganging up he probably feels living in his own house and then leave it at that.

There's no point arguing with people with that level of selfishness plus the OS, YS and LB will all be getting what they want out of this so they'll all be telling each other that their doing the right thing.
