Morning fellow PH's smile

Just heard some great news I'd like to share.

My 22yr old son is studying to be an architect, a dream he's had since a young lad.

I once found him measuring up our cottage and sketching it out on Google Sketch; he was just 14ys old at the time.

He's passed his Pt1 exams and is now on a year out working at a small firm. Yesterday he got news that his building design for a care home had just got planning permission.

"All I've got to do now Dad, is work out how to build it!" lol!

Well done Carsie Jnr - Very proud of you!

That is fantastic, following a dream from a young age to fruition. I can only hope the same for my son (currently only 2 years). Bet your well proud as I know I would be.

Good on him, maybe get him a bottle of whisky share a drink now, share a drink when ground breaks and share a drink on completion?

Or similar if you dont like whisky or large distance

Well done him!

I bet that being an architect helps you pick up girls too

I remember telling my dad that I'd got into my first choice university and course and he just said "so?"

Great to hear. My daughter is just coming to the end of the first year doing her part 1. Lots of theoretical projects and studies.

Must be the best feeling in the world for him to see his first real build.

Just goes to show that the youth of today are actually not as bad as the press would have you believe.

Well done and congratulations OP.

Good luck to him...the vast majority of my job is advising architects on particular elements of the building envelope.

Some are very good, some are genuinely shocking.
