Last weekend I ordered new strings and a pedal for my bass guitars, no gigs this week so looked forward to lounging around, swapping strings and generally going over my gear.

Arrived home tonight, expecting neighbour to hand over a parcel but instead there is a Parcel Force "collect it from the post office" card. I have a large "leave parcel with neighbours" notice on the door, every other firm manages to understand this but not Parcel Force.

Its not like it needed a signature, which is their normal excuse for not delivering.

Whenever there is a problem or delay, it is always Parcel Force, a mate asked me to find him a bumper in the same colour to avoid painting it, eventually one turned up in good condition and it was dispatched. Over a week later it had not arrived from only fifty miles away so Icontacted them and they said it had not been collected from the vendor, it had but they had lost it!

No attempt was going to be made to find it, I was told to start claiming a refund. I was not willing to start looking for a replacement and had to go all Basil Fawlty to make them try and find the elusive 6 foot long parcel.

After tracing the path it should have taken and calling various depots it was located at the first depot it landed at, undamaged surprisingly.

The whole process was a Kafkaesque pantomime, I have the impression that losing stuff was so prevalent that the customer service people just authorise a refund and close the case as an expediency, assuming that items are easily replaced.

Anyway, rant over, why won't they leave parcels with neighbours when every other firm does?

You should have had a text from them on the morning of delivery which would give options, one of which is leave with neighbour. Some senders (typically high value items) do insist on a signature.

We had a gearbox go "missing" whilst being delivered by parcel force. I mean come on, it's not like the bloody thing is a thimble! Joke of a company for the most part. boxedin

I have the same problem. Note on the door advising to leave with neighbour or in safe place. All the other couriers and the postie are happy to comply but Parcelforce take it back to the depot 60 miles away. They do try to redeliver, but don't leave a card though.

Presumably this was on blue bin collection day?

To be fair, it's not only Parcelforce that fails to deliver:

Persevere with this thread, it's worth a read....

I don't know about Parcelforce but whether we can leave parcels with a neighbour/without a signature is dependant on whether the shipper has allowed it. Some will allow all, some none, some might allow them to be left with a neighbour but not without a signature or vice versa

Their vehicles are filthy
The staff dress like hobos
Their premises look like something from the seventies just before it was shut down
Their staff are not interested in the client
Their managers show no interest in their customer facing staff

They need buying out, and have a good hatchett man deal with it all from the inside

All Parcelforce deliveries need a signature by default. Sending things without a signature required is a special arrangement, and usually only done with things like perishable food.

Were your neighbours in when he tried to deliver?

Funny that, I've been using PF quite a bit recently , nothing to report , I bought a box of N gauge trains which are very fragile from France and they arrived in a parcelforce van in the same condition they left in .

Holy thread resurrection, Batman!

Checking my tracking I noticed that a parcel from Germany was due today (Parcelforce app)

So at lunchtime I’m out mowing the lawn and on the road I spy a Parcelfarce van driving past, the driver quite clearly looking for something. He looked me straight in the eye as he drove past. Clearly he’d overshot and I guesses what would happen next.

On the app “delivery attempted at 13:25” and card left.

WTAF - I watched him drive past, probably couldn’t be arsed with the walk, walk up drive and up steps or whatever.

Never seen such a blatant example of laziness. I couldn’t give a st if he’s on a st wage, has to deliver x parcels in y hours etc etc. it’s his job, it’s what he’s paid to do. If he doesn’t want to do it then get out! Let someone else do it.

Sorry. Went off on a bit of a rant there.

We had one stop outside the house for just a few seconds, then drive off. Surprisingly enough they marked it as "delivery attempted, card left". We have CCTV. I let them spout gibberish for a bit before sending them the footage. Everything since has turned up on time.

I have ordered items from Amazon Marketplace & been advised delivery would be 3 - 5 days by ParcelForce. After a week received emails saying I should ask for a refund as items have been lost. Received refund after a few days. Days later items delivered.

In November a friend asked if he could use my address to have a parcel shipped to from the U.S., because he was going to be out of town. I said that's fine, as long as you note that I'll be travelling w/c 8th December. He said that's fine, it should be delivered before that.

December rolls around, and as luck would have it, Parcelforce try to deliver the package on 8th December and I'm not there. They leave a card, and then attempt to deliver again the next day. Again they leave a card.

I get back from my trip on Friday night, and my friend messages me about the parcel and I tell him they tried to deliver twice when I was away. I tell them I'll arrange a re-delivery, so get onto their website and the first redelivery day is the Tuesday 16th December. So I book it, and despite having things to do, I wait around all day on Tuesday waiting but no re-delivery attempt is made. The next day is my office Christmas party and I know I'm going to be in London most of the day. So I get on the phone to them in the morning, and after holding for 25 minutes, I finally get through to someone to complain about the non-delivery the day before. While I was on the phone on hold, the delivery guy turns up but didn't press the doorbell hard enough. There was no sound and of course I was oblivious. The lady on the phone books a re-delivery attempt for Thursday 18th, when I will be home all day.

Surprise surprise, on the 18th there is no re-delivery attempt so again I try to get through on the phone. Now, Parcelforce have removed the option to speak to someone. All you can do is book a redelivery via the automated voice system, or they push you to go online to do it. Since I'm on the phone, I book a redelivery for the next available day, which was Monday 22nd. Again, no delivery, and there have been no further attempts to deliver the parcel.

I gather that the contents of the parcel is some sort of unique film memorabilia. Expensive and irreplaceable. Friend has asked the sender to complain to USPS, but they say they have handed it off to their delivery partner and it's not their responsibility.

I can't seem to speak to anyone at Parcelforce and booking redeliveries does not seem to result in any action. There seems to be no way to complain. I have half a mind to go to the Aldershot depot where the parcel apparently is. But that's 45 mins to an hour in traffic each way and I was just trying to do my friend a favour. He won't be back until some time in mid-late January, byt which time I'll be abroad for work again.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

Email to CEO's office. Works. EVERY time.

So far, they have always sorted out. Funny how that happens.

My policy now is one call to the general enquiries number, which never yields any kind of result, then email CEO's office.

They truly are the most useless of all the delivery companies.

I am going to stick up for PF
They have a monopoly for moving stuff around for the GunTrade and they do it very very well. My chap here locally and those before him is excellent and in I rarely have a problem with them if ever.

they are pretty good locally, but then they deliver to next door most days,
last week a new bloke came, saw our cockerel (it had escaped) and asked to buy it,
told him if he caught it he could have it, assume he wanted to eat it??

the next few mins were amusing,

he didnt catch it,

A good few years ago, TNT muddled up labels from parcels I'd sent out from my workplace, with shotguns sent from our local gunshop. A very bemused customer, thankfully an honest one, and a rather large dose of sorry from the TNT rep. I suspect there were all sorts of other repercussions around the incident that we weren't made privy to.
