Hi All,
I work with kids with various difficulties, and I've received an unexpected and unusual request, which due to my limited IT skills I can't help with...

I need a "Shopping Trolley Driving License"

Does anyone fancy a go at this, please? It would make one of our lads day, and if anyone has any funny ideas as well, feel free to include them

Thank you in advance, I'm off to Google

We had to do a sewing machine driving license at secondary school back in then 90s

It looked like the old paper license and was constructed on a handful of sheets of A4 with patterns, lines, dots, etc... to follow

Bttt

Anyone got half an hour free to knock up a fake license to make his day?

I liked the sewing idea, its kind of what we've done with this lad. He was a liability with a trolley! I know this may be a weird request, and I know PH can go off on a tangent, but would really appreciate some help

You can moan at me all you want, but if you're making something for kids who have learning difficulties then surely it's best to use the correct word? Least of all to stop you from looking daft in front of the other staff and the parents.

License is the action of issuing a licence. Verb and noun. You will be making a Shopping Trolley Licence.

You still come across as a dick! Think about it, guy is trying to do something nice for a kid with learning difficulties and all you have to offer is a patronising spelling correction.

I wrote one word and posted a link to site that has a brief explanation. What a dick. How patronising.

I can be a bit of a spanner about spelling and punctuation, but I'll try to be helpful at the same time. I didn't moan, but I'd have happily accepted your criticism if accompanied by a helpful link like the one above.

Anyway, in true PH style I'm off trawling through your posts to try and spot a mistake to point out, and if I can't find one I'll be hammering virtual frozen sausages into your virtual lawn...

Time and a place. This is not it. Miserable and pedantic .

It was actually a useful link, but imagine how much warmer inside you'd feel now if you'd followed that with a link like Alorotom did?

Edit for spelling! Need to quit waking night shifts!

Yes it was most definitely the correct time and place. Very early on and way before any design using the wrong word had gone to print.

Had it been the usual nonsense over in SP&L then I wouldn't have bothered or even cared, but this particular time is where the use of the correct word is exceptionally important and so far from pedantic that I wonder if you know what the word means. Catching basic fundamental mistakes before putting them to design is worthwhile and time saving.

But thanks very much for the expletive behind the censor. Some seem to be over defensive in protecting their ignorance.

Sorry to the OP for preventing him from using the wrong word and for not wrapping up the notification in fluffy cotton wool.

I notice and care about correct spelling & grammar. Oh, and by the way, it should be it's, not its. Twice. HTH. biggrin

I have to agree with Cold - if you're going to be making up, printing and handing out a licence, then you really do need to make sure it says 'licence' and not 'license'. Unless you're a Merkin.
