Phones are an addiction. Like narcotics.
Why not during the week? Not THAT difficult. I reckon it would do far more good than "harm"
I wouldn'tbe able to do my job on a weekday. Think my boss might have a problem with that.Phones are an addiction. Like narcotics.

People are too addicted to there phones today, people are too obsessed with instagram and Facebook to care about there own life.
My partner recently removed her facebook and compared it to quitting smoking...
It's a serious addiction, I am 24 and everyone else my age is confused by my lack of social media, I have more important things to do ( like post a reply on here
) Tl;dr no one would follow it, you're fighting a empty battle.

I have a global role that relies on email, phones, IM. I see my colleagues about 4 times a year. They are literally 4000 miles East and West from me. Phones are an addiction. Like narcotics.

Hard to do my job without some form of contact, I can't walk across the office to get data that I need...
We used to manage without telephone land lines as well, and survived. Used to write letters. And of course once there were no printed books, monks used to copy them out longhand. And of course, once we didn't know how to write at all, just used to tell each other stories.
What is the point?
What is the point?

We used to live in caves and throw spears at animals too, shall we go back to that ?Phones are an addiction. Like narcotics.

Its pretty pointless to "prove we managed" years ago, we know that, we did it, its in the history books. Lets move on.

So, this is my idea. For a 24hr period we try and get as many people as possible to switch off the mobile 'phone and disconnect the Internet.
Could YOU do it?
The phone would be absolutely no bother as I don't really use it much anyway. Could YOU do it?
I recently quit smoking, and haven't had a drink for weeks either so i do have will power but I have to be honest, I am kind of hooked on having an iPad at my finger tips.
Not sure what I would do without TV and Internet, sad really.
I went without a device for a week last summer when changing jobs last August as old and new employers provide them and i'd ditched my own years back.
What I was really aware of for the first two days was the number of times I'd instinctively go for my phone to check something and of course then realise I couldn't. Felt a bit odd but never distressing. After 3 days it just felt normal. I wouldn't say I suddenly felt all liberated though.
What I do try and do these days though is consciously leave my phone at home or in the car if I'm going somewhere for a social occasion to stop me fiddling with it rather than being sociable. I think it's times like those that a device is a real curse and to be discouraged
