I'm asking that because I got his gift note (and the packing slip) for the socks his daughter sent him, but not the socks themselves, in something I got from Amazon.

(I am aware this is pointless, but so is 99.9% of this site).

Five people clubbed together and bought him one pair of socks? I bet he feels loved!

Blimey!

Such boundless generosity with gift buying! They could at least have bought him a multi pack!!

Perhaps they don't have much. I've been in financial situations in the past where gifts were a real stretch. Thankfully my family doesn't measure how much I love them by how much I spent.

Also it may have been an additional 'quirky' gift by the looks of things?

thats right, forget the money, its the personal touch of a poorly printed birthday message that really matters.

I would suggest that Richard and Sarah are married and the other three are their children... (or cats/dogs/hamsters). Sarah is the only one who has bought the gift for her dad, and just put everyone else's name on the card.

Of course, that might not be the only gift he has received, but if he is anything like my dad, he won't want more than a pair of socks anyway...

Perhaps they live elsewhere in the world and Amazon enable them to send a gift in the UK without paying 3x the cost of the gift in shipping? Is it any different to sending flowers by Interflora with a note for example?

Can't people just be happy that someone, somewhere, was thinking of them?

I really didn't expect the trousers to be the best part of the ensemble!

When I purchased my house I inherited a ladder that was kept in the shed

It had socks on the feet so not to mark stuff I guess

A coincidence?

Steady now, that's my wife.

I had to buy 2 pairs and get a seamstress to make them.
