Someone walks up to you and shoots you in the face. You wait an hour or two for an ambulance. In the meantime you're attended to by a PCSO because there aren't any real police.

After a ten hour wait in hospital you're attended to by half a nurse who pushes you out the door when you've stopped dying with a Mars bar to munch on the way home, which is 30% smaller than it used to be but costs more.

The shooter gets sent to a prison where there aren't enough screws so becomes radicalised and let out as early as possible because there isn't enough room.

Then he shoots you in the face again.

So what services have actually improved in recent years as opposed to being on their way to dying by a thousand cuts?

Must have pissed the shooter off enough for him to shoot you again years later.

An elderly relative was telling me "pointless in trying to make an appointment at the GP" "it'll take months" (obvs believes the news)

Anyhoo popped in to make said appointment, saw her within the hour came away with tablets, a week later (after months of suffering) is on the ment.

i did the same with my (NHS) dentist afew weeks ago, I hadn't been there in years. turned up, asks for the earliest applintment and they told me someone cancelled an appointment that was 1hr later. after that i had a follow up appointment booked in for a week later.

I find that at my GP if you want to get an appointment with the GP that's got his name on the surgery then it's 4weeks, everyone else is anyone else that works there is from 1-2weeks.

+1

Moved house, so applied online for an updated driving licence. Needed a photocard one (had previously only the paper one), so ticked the box to allow them to use my passport photo. Short time later, new licence turns up saving me the hassle of getting photos taken.

Passports. Mrs P took my photo with my phone and I attached it to my online application. New passport arrived in about a week.

Anything that is delivered.

I remember ordering things from magazines or newspapers (x ray specs, flying monkey etc) and it stating please allow up to 28 days for delivery.

I don't normally have to wait 28 hours for delivery now. I've even had items from America and Italy within 36 hours.

If something states delivery within 5 days now, I tend to look elsewhere if I can.

Obviously exceptions are made for rare or hand crafted items and the like.

Not just the time either, the range of options, tracking features, delivery slot scheduling, text updates etc.

Paying people/transferring money/banking.

Used to have to write a cheque, then post it. Recipient would then take cheque to the bank to pay it in - whole process took days.

Now via online banking, it transfers instantly (or within 2 hours at the most).

Last Sunday my son fell arse first through his hammock in the garden. How we all laughed. Next day I ordered him a new one from Amazon. Placed the order after lunch. It was on my doorstep the next morning. Standard delivery.

its a nice feature but sometimes it still takes ages. I feel like you get an item in argos quicker then you get an order in McDs these days!!

Only ever used it in my local one in the afternoon when it was quiet.
