'Adult' shops - who do they cater for now?
Discussion
Wandered past an 'Adult' shop the other day and it got me thinking, surely there is no customer base for these now? They used to be all about 'adult' videos and DVDs, but it's all free on the Internet these days.
Sex toys - I'd imagine most would simply shop online, or there is Anne Summers if you really want the high street experience.
There must be regular business for them to survive and pay rent and wages, but I can't fathom out what it can be.
Anyone been in one recently - what's in them that you can't buy online or even get for free?

Recently made a long trip up the A1 and was surprised to see several of these Adult stores in what could only be described a truck-stop areas - or is this a different kind of adult 'store'?

1.5 scale black suction-cupped 18v waterproof non-toxic vibrating rubber fist with extending first finger and "shocker" function. At a guess.

Same with Porn Magazines in Newsagents, who buys them nowadays ?
Last time I got one was like ten plus years ago when staying in a hotel, the wifi was too expensive
it served its purpose and then came home with me and ended up on top of the wardrobe, we were getting some Christmas presents off the top of the wardrobe and it dustilly plopped onto the floor in front of the wife, myself and two of my three boys, one goes "Eww dad" then the other one does, missus thought it was hilarious, she is pretty good about such matters and was aware of its existence and had scanned it back when it was purchased, anyway, the kids outrpouring of disgust was silenced when I said "You two can shut up, I have seen your internet histories...." which shut them up.
I think I have only ever bought maybe five in the last thirty years, but each time, it feels like just going up tot a newsagent and outlining your plans for a grumble imminently
Used to work for a newsagents as a paperboyand the boss, Geoff, who was a bit of a perv and used to let us borrow the magazines if we brought them back so they didnt seem thumbed, used to warn us if there was any evidence he would doc us for it and we had bought that magazine, so had to be very gentle with them, one lad borrowed a copy of Parade I think it was, stuck it in his bag one Sunday morning and arrived home in teenage anticipation of the delights he was about to view and got his prize out of the bag and realised it was "You" magazine, the Sunday supplement from the Mail on Sunday which was of similar heft and dimensions, he was miffed until the true horror of his predicament dawned on him, he had posted a copy of parade in place of the You magazine, apparently the householder came down and queried where his Sunday supplement was, but neglected to mention the additional Jazz pamphlet, some years later we spotted the chap, now probably knocking seventy and asked him, he did indeed remember it and still had it somewhere !

Surely the customers enjoy the interaction with the staff, perhaps they allow try before you buy?
There is one I drive past (honestly) right by the Richmond roundabout on Kew Road, absolute prime real estate. You'd have to sell a lot of Gimp masks to cover the rent there I'd imagine.
