Hi.
I'm having a frustrating time with Facebook - I don't go on it much so I'm a bit clueless, and I have searched online but I've not found anything that has really helped.

Basically, someone I work with set up a page as a bit of a laugh to do with a mutual interest of ours.

A couple of years later, having forgotten all about it, I have set myself up as a sole trader under the same name of the page.
Now, when I google my business name the first thing that comes up is this page my mate set up, which isn't actually to do with my business, so I want it deleted.
However, there is no administrator assigned to the page, so even my mate is unable to delete it.

I have gone through the instructions on FB and the final message says they will email me within 72 hours with more instructions, but they don't, I've been trying for weeks now.

Has anyone got any tips, tricks or experience of claiming a FB page without admin?

Any help is much appreciated.

Martin.

(I wasn't sure weather to put this in the Business, Comuters/Gadgets or General Gassing).

Have you tried reporting the page and explaining the problem? You should get a reply in 72 hours.
Failing that have you seen this?...

A Page may exist for your business even if someone from your business didn’t create it. For example, when someone checks into a place that doesn't have a Page, an unmanaged Page is created to represent the location.
If the Page is unmanaged, you'll see Unofficial Page below its cover photo. You can request to claim the Page and become its admin, and you can merge the Page into a Page you already manage for your business.
Keep in mind that Pages that represent geographic locations (ex: New York City, Ontario, Switzerland) can't be claimed.
To claim or merge an unmanaged Page:

Click Is this your business? below the Page's cover photo
Follow the on-screen instructions

Keep in mind that you may be asked for information to verify your relationship with the business, such as business phone number, business email or documents.

Yep, tried that twice. No reply.

Yes, they asked for the business number, then phoned with a four digit verification code which I then gave them online, then got a message saying I'd get a reply within 72 hours.
I've done this four times now (all over 72 hours apart) and not had a thing back. banghead

Thanks anyway, twing. thumbup

If its over a certain number of members you can't. Ive tried to shut down a group that I couldn't be arsed with anymore. The only way around is delete all members then remove yourself as admin if you are. But the group may still exist my old one still does.

One of many stupid things about Facebook.

FB is a tt for this sort of thing. Can you message me the page and I'll have a play tomorrow?

It's not a group, it's just a page.
And the problem is there's no administrator of it, I've tried to 'claim' the page and become the admin., but FB don't reply to my requests.

yes

I've hardly ever used it in the last several years, but now as I'm trying to start a small business I see it as a necessary evil.

It's purely because of the page name that I want it removed.

It certainly is!

Thanks for the very kind offer, I've pondered it for a while.

With respect, I think I'd prefer to continue trying myself for now rather than other people get involved, if FB see (though I'm sceptical they will) multiple people trying to claim a page, well, I'm not sure what they'd think to be honest. I don't know that it could potentially hinder me or not..?

Thank you anyway. beer

I've just set up a quick Page, haven't set up any admin but I automatically am the admin. Have you clicked on "Page Roles" under settings just to make sure your mate doesn't have the role?

It does seem to be a flaw in the FB system that has left a few pages in limbo

Have you checked your support inbox, not just messenger. Even with messenger if you get messages from people who are not in your friends list they don't automatically give you a notification and you need to check in the full messenger page or client.

The support inbox can be accessed on the full web client from settings (down arrow next to ? top right) and in the left hand list towards the bottom.

i reckon there is more to this than meets the eye. If you won't show someone what it is, could it be something embarrassing about you that you want removed?

My mate and I checked again today, there is no "Page Roles" option in the settings, I guess as there is no administrator..?

That's very interesting, I didn't know about this support inbox.

I've just checked it and all I've got in there is automated replies saying "Thanks for letting us know about this. We'll take a look at your request, submission or concern as soon as possible and send you a message once we have an update."

I've got four separate cases open for the same thing now but no actual replies.

Thanks for alerting me to this. thumbup

No, it's nothing very personal or private about me.

Thanks for that, I hadn't found that link in my searches, but it might give me another avenue to explore, although I'm not holding my breath for a quick resolution! thumbup
